I suppose we should have just gone ahead and lost the Cold War instead of using resources available to win it.

What exactly do they mean by "lack the means to identify and prevent it"? How about giving people a list of do not donate to organizations?

We could have (and would have) won the Cold War without getting into bed with a number of scum sucking dictators (and turning our backs while they oppressed their citizenry).

Maybe, maybe not. History says we won, and that's part of how we did it. Sometimes you have to take the best available option. If we are going to find Bin Laden and prevent terrorist attacks, we are going to consort with some questionable characters. Hell, not just questionable....plain ruthless, bad people. Is that worth it?
