Might Not Have the Same Needs

Different players fit different systems. I've never seen the Keokuk QB play but Chizik mentioned a while back that he won't recruit a QB that isn't mobile. Can JV run the spread offense at the Big 12 level? It seems to me that ISU's priority was Jordan & Tiller- with 2 QB's in the fold there are bigger needs from a position standpoint.

Brett Meyer was a pretty athletic QB, but I'd say his running abilities are at the lower end of what ISU needs from a spread offense QB.

That's all I got on the subject, I'm on the fence here. Either way, this was a poor outing, and the team/coaches deserved being booed, but is it really necessary?
I just dont believe in this. You can't direct your boos. There is collateral damage. That was an embarrassing day for me and most of the Iowa fans I am friends with.

Vandenburg does have a very strong arm, and I think he'll succeed in college, but we just have too many qb's on the roster. As for Hurt, I played against him and wasn't overly impressed with his defensive skills. I don't think he can cover Big 12 caliber receivers. He does make some amazing plays at receiver though, and I wouldn't be dissapointed if we gave him an offer, however I don't think he'd be anything special at the college level.

Well, I think sometimes it's OK for fans to show their displeasure in the on the field play. But there is a time and place for it, and Saturday wasn't it. I really feel more sick about the actions of the fans than I do about the play on the field.

I caught a little bit of the championship game, and it seemed like Hurt had his name called every other play. He was always around the ball making plays, and if he's like that on a consistent basis, I would think he would be worth a look.

*Disclaimer: I've heard the above "excuses" before, so the following is not directly toward you...

This is the dumbest, most ******** excuse I've heard. And as I noted, I've heard it before. Most recently in Ames, when some folks beside me (and a fair amount of the fans in JTS) started booing one game this season after Meyer threw the ball away on yet another 3rd and long play.

The players and coaches don't know who or what you are booing. They just hear "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I swear, the whole "oh, we were only booing such-and-such" makes my skin crawl every damn time. Get a clue!

I'd love to have Hurt. Local TV down there is saying Iowa is going to offer him next.
