You would almost think this is an Anti-cyclone player/coach board. ******, I never knew this state had so many former D-1 head coaches!
While I was disappointed last night. That game accounted for about 3% of our season. This is college basketball, not college football. Losses will happen and aren't the end of the world.
Honestly, I sickens me to think we have fans that will throw players and coaches (2nd year coaches!!) under the bus after 4 games into a ~30 game season. I typically go over to HN to read about that sort of thing and giggle at the ridiculous nature of most hawk fans. It must be contagious...as a few of our fans have picked it up.
-keep.
Every fanbase has them. They will also be the first ones to turn around and jump back on the bandwagon when we do start having some success, and they'll say "I knew we were money the whole time." Just gotta live with it.
Right now every Big ten team is rated higher than us on Sagarin.
Northwestern is at #158, Iowa is at #103, and UNI is at #21, and Drake is at #112.
We would be undergdogs for interstate games at this point no matter where the game is played. Not a great start.
We did beat EA Sports though.
Seems to me that there was another Cyclone sports team that everyone wanted to give up on early in their season...
I know that football is a little different because we had an entirely new staff, but you have to remember we have a lot of new guys for bball as well. It's going to take a little time for them to get going. I have all the faith in the world in GM.
Go Cyclones!
I'm curious at what point some of you think it's acceptable to criticize. Can posters point out certain deficiencies that the team or a player has or is it more of an issue that it's too early in GMac's career or the season? I'm not saying one way is right or not but IMO I don't see much point if all we ever do is talk about rainbows and sunshine and how great the Cyclones will be someday. I realize that a lot of stuff is probably way over the top but I really am curious where some of you draw the line for what is acceptable and what isn't.
My personal opinion is it's perfectly ok to talk about what's going wrong and why that is. I don't think there's cause to call for anyone's job at this point or personally insult players as "worthless" or something like that.
Everyone needs to relax a little...

The glass is half full - lets empty it before worrying about another one
OK since we have the Sagarin #230 toughest schedule to date. UNI will lower that number:

The thing that bugs me is everyone thinks we're regressing as a team from last year. We'll in my opinion... that happens when you're missing your stud players due to injury and rediculous rulings. With EITHER Wes or Lucca... I think we would be 4-0 right now. With Wes and Lucca... I think we have/had a chance at the NCAA tourney. Chalk those up to injury... various guys are showing great promise... Brackins looks solid. Garrett brings some skills no other player on our team has. Clark is looking to be near the top of his game defensively and offensively (efficiencywise at least). Now add in our most big 12 ready guard (build and height) who has been said to be a lights out shooter (from practice) and great vision for passing (Cap City League). And add in our number one player that GMac plans to build the team around and has said is the face of our team for the next three years. I think we're looking at a pretty good team, who has decent depth and is getting great play out of walkons.
I'm happy with the team... and disappointed with events that have been out of our control.
There are a lot of great posts in this thread. Calling for GMac's head seems a little premature - some of our best players are guys he's recruited! Give it some time!
