Spoiled brats

god are we getting stuck up intolerant yuppie punks? Gmac is not the worst coach in history and the players arent the worst in history. Having said that, my comments on the game are... Peterson had a real tough time bring the ball up and passing the ball, ofcourse it didnt help when his teammates stood like wooden indians instead of coming to the ball. He also made the 2 HUGE 3 pt shots to keep us in game. Garret always could penetrate real well, but so what? I thought the point of penetrating was to dish it to other players.That kick back to peterson for the 3 was perfect, he needs to do that more. Overall he played pretty good. Jiri was typical Jiri, a little too soft going at the basket, made a couple of his usual lil hook shots, rebounded pretty good and got his usual 20 phantom fouls called on him. Also had alot of good rb's for the lil time he played. Brakins was excellent the 1st half shooting, didnt rebound very good though, gaurds couldnt get the ball to him in 2nd half then he got hurt. Thompson still has the 'sit out a yr n half not quite got the rust out play yet.' I still think he was decent last night n i think he will be a good player. Haluska played solid in there, had 3 beautiful assists and has a real good shot and when he makes one.. look out.. i think he will explode any game now. Clark looked like a grizzled veteran and had a real solid game. Was anyone else sitting there thinking to themselves wes, wes, wes, lucca ,lucca, lucca. Man i wish we had them we would be 3-1 and alot more cohesive, then again maybe not, its still too early with all these new and young players. I love our excellent fairly tough schedule i think it will pay off down the line.

Amen to everything. I don't think Thompson is very good but I did think he played a decent first half last night. It was the 2nd half that he got pushed around for every rebound. If we had Wes and Lucca, we would be 4-0 right now rather easily.

I'll even venture to say if we had either one. Preferably Wes, because Lucca hasn't seen 1 second of game time.

People definitely need to chill out right now. This is almost as bad as HN or HR after the end of the football season, and we're only 4 games in.

I'm not buying into the theory of Alex Thompson is "rusty" and will turn into some good player. I don't care if you're rusty or whatever, you should be able to be productive in some of the games we've played so far.

Outside of that, I pretty much agree with everything in the original post. People had way too high of expectation for this team and now it's starting to set in for people that this is still a rebuilding process and it doesn't happen overnight. It's difficult to be successful when you lose 4 guards in 1.5 years and 5 if you count Lucca and his NCAA troubles. I hated watching us last night but it is what it is at this point. If this was year 4 of the GMac era I'd be ready for a change but he's still in the early stages of building his program. We've just gotta have faith in our coaches to keep recruiting and hopefully things turn around. Any coach who can lead UNI to three straight NCAA tourneys can coach.

I agree. Call me crazy, but I am not one of those fans that is expecting 20 wins this season. Gmac doesn't have all of the tools that he recruited and is still paying for what WM left behind. Let him get in the recruiting game for a couple of years, let some players mature, and then see what he has on the floor night after night.

I don't know why, but most people seem to think so. Do they all expect the football team to contend for the national title next year, too?
