The guy deserved to get tassed. All he had to do was listen to the cop. He could have just signed the ticket, and then appealed it. I have appealed a speeding ticket before and won, it's not that hard. The DOT doesn't have the money to fight appeals very hard. Walking away from a cop when he tells you not to move is a pretty stupid thing to do.

I hope that cop enjoys the unemployment line. I would have my wife bail me out and then head to local lawyer's office and file the biggest lawsuit that is permissionable. I think the youtube video somes it up.

Right, he should have let the guy run. Give me a break. This is why we have so much crime in this country. It's pretty simple, obey the rules, things are fine. Try to walk away from a cop when he tells you to put your hands behind your back, and you get tassed.

I watched this again and it p*ssed me off even more the second time. Granted the guy could have simply turned around but the cop had ZERO right to taser him in that situation. If you go to the MyFox Utah site there is more to the video. I'm somewhat surprised the cop didn't taser the guys pregnant wife for jollies. Another Barney Fife that should carry a gun with no bullets. Obviously, there is an appropriate time for force to be used; situations such as this is why people a leary of law enforcement. I have nothing but the utmost respect for people who choose to be police officers, but they have to be held to a higher standard than this!!!

In my opinion if you dont cooperate with the cops they have every right to taser you. But then again, maybe it is because Im not stupid enough to ignore police instructions.

Exactly. If your hands are in your pocket and you're walking away from a cop you are lucky that all you got was zaped. For those that think the cop is in the wrong I pray you don't have kids - because dealing with parents that think that way is what makes the job a being a teacher stressful.

Simple life lesson. Do as you are told by authorities or they'll do it their way

I am sorry but not signing a speeding ticket does not warrant the taser in my opinion.

He didn't get tasered because he wouldn't sign a ticket. He got tasered because not once did he do what he was ORDERED to do by the LEO. On top of that he had his hand in his pocket and he was walking away.
If you are that stupid you deserve more than being zaped. You need to loose your ability to reproduce.
