Iowa can still sneak into a bowl game..

It is still possible for Illinios to sneak into a BCS Bowl at 9-3...IF that happens, Iowa would fill a Big 10 spot I believe. Root for teams ahead of the Illini to win.

They'd still have to be picked at large. Their hopes only increase in a very small way.

Yeah it is a long shot, but they have to get an at large bid. What you need is all the teams with 6 wins to get a 7th.

Or a team like KState to fill the last Big 12 slot tonight.

Re: Iowa can still sneak into a bowl game..

Are you sure on that. My understanding is that conference teams get chosen first to fill conference slots. So if there is a Big 10 slot open, the 7-5 rule does not apply and Iowa would get in. I could be wrong here. If someone else has better info, I'l appreciate it.

And K-State's getting pounded 38-21 at Fresno State in the 3rd.

That's another CYCLONE.....FIRST DOWN!!!!

Doesn't look like K-State is going to win. 38-21 Fresno St in the 3rd quarter. Who knows though, there's a lot of time left, but Fresno is playing really well and they're at home.

I love the fact that every week, ISU unites to cheer on two teams: us and whoever is playing the Hawks!

Re: Iowa can still sneak into a bowl game..

Iowa can't go to a Big 10 bowl. They have seven spots for Big 10 teams, but there are eight teams with at least 7 wins. Therefore, 6-6 Iowa and Northwestern can't take one of those eight spots. With many of the 6-5 teams winning today to go to 7-5, it is very doubtful that Iowa gets a bowl berth.

As for the Big 12, we have eight bowl tie-ins and we have eight teams that are bowl eligible, so a 6-6 Colorado squad will get a Big 12 bowl berth.

I believe it's the case, but I could be confused.

My point was, if Illinios get a BCS Bid, that leaves an open spot in the Big 10 for Iowa. That would mean Ohio State and Illinios would not count against that.

No, it will not. The Big 10 has 8 7 or better win teams, and 7 tie-ins, one of those being a BCS game. If two Big 10 teams get to the BCS, it will exactly fill all of their bowl tie-ins with 7 win or better teams and one at-large BCS team. Because that one Big 10 team in the BCS will displace another 7 win or better team, that will help them fulfill their conference tie-in, and still leave Iowa where they currently are.

No conference can have more than 2 teams in the BCS.

This is FACT. The hawks CANNOT and WILL NOT go to a B10+1 tie-in bowl. No how.... no way!

what bowl?????? the Alcatraz Prison Bowl played in the prison yard vs. Florida St.? wouldnt mind seeing that

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams

Looks like UCLA is going to win today. That takes another at large away
I think the only way they would get in is Ohio state gets in and another conference with not enough tie ins gets a team into the champsionship. Then that would open 2 spots up, but there is a lot of teams winning that needed to lose.
