My brother is a hawk fan, and is convinced that KF is going to Michigan. Over on the IA board it looks they are split 50-50 on whether losing KF is a bad thing.
My question is this... Would McCarney be considered as the next Iowa coach if Ferentz leaves?

They probably are looking for an offensive coach - someone like a Bill Callahan who won the SuperBowl. Maybe Bill Bellicheck would do. Charlie Weis might want to mobve also.

I wonder if they'd try to hire Jim Leavitt away from USF?

Maybe they should hire Bill Callahan...have him drive their program into the ground for a couple years. |

Iowa played 30 freshman and about 15 sophomores in significant minutes, and graduated 12 seniors. Not to mention, losing the entire receiving corp. to either injury or arrest (ugh), and having an o-line with Sophomores being the most experience.
I realize KF hasn't had great teams the past few years, but if you sit down and actually look at what he's done this year and the years previous, you'll realize he's still a pretty darn good coach.
I'd be glad if "nobody else" wants him. He can stay at Iowa as long as he wants.

I'm not sure why anyone would want KF, especially after 19-18 after the last 3 season (when they were supposed to be outside-shot national title contenders according to ESPN ), but according to Fox Sports Radio, Michigan is EXTREMELY interested in Ferentz (simply because the president used to be at Iowa). They were saying something about how KF would only have to sell the name Michigan to recruits and they would come, and he could focus on coaching. Apparently there's serious interest there.

I agree with you..if Barta has shown one thing, it's how important it is to him to "one-up" Iowa State. He did that with the big contract to Ferentz, with the handling of the Alford situation and his whinning about football tickets. He would look at name glitz over substance in my opinion. So look for a name he can brag about as a choice. It would not be someone who has recently been fired.

This board says KF has been offered the job. If this is true (and I doubt it is) stupidity knows no limits in the Little 11.

I'd be glad if "nobody else" wants him. He can stay at Iowa as long as he wants. I get what you're saying but, bottom line is his team has gotten worse each year for 3 years. I wouldn't think that is too appealing to most AD's. Especially Michigan and Nebraska.

Ferentz has already shown that he can recruit quality/high character kids from the Detroit area .
