I almost can't beleive I'm writing this sober, but Lou Holtz is really starting to grow on me. I really didn't like him as a Notre Dame coach, but then again I can't stand Notre Dame no matter who coaches them. I get a kick out of him on ESPN. He reminds me of that slightly crazy, kind of scary, but also cool uncle who drinks a little too much at the family reunion and starts telling semi-incoherent stories and anecdotes that don't make a whole lot of sense but are kind of funny anyway. I like it when he goes on his rants and starts getting agitated, especially when he goes off on Mark May.
Speaking of Mark May, I used to like him, but I think now that is because he was matched up with Trev Alberts, one of the all-time great a$$wipes to ever appear on a TV screen. Now though, May really bugs me. He strikes me as being smug and egotistical and rather full of himself.
Anybody else getting a kick out of Lou these days?

I can stand him a little more, but he needs to stop talking up and picking Notre Dame. The gets old in a hurry, I think it helps the Mark May is with him and they work well together.

Anybody else getting a kick out of Lou these days? Last night, on Gameday Final, he went on this awesome rant about the BCS. It was pretty hilarious. I totally agree with the "drunk uncle" sentiment. He's like that crazy old guy who lives down the street that tells funny stories.

Great sense of humor and he was truely one of the best coaches in the game. Minnesota still raves over the two years they had him and the immediate results Sweet Lou had there. He put Arkansas and ND back on the map and I'm surprised he didn't do better than he did at SC.

| Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." |

I would rather listen to a mental patient with marbles in his mouth talk about insurance than listen to Mark May. Lou is obviously on the show for entertainment value, and he delivers.

I really hope ESPN continues his pep talks next year, he kicks ***. I watched a motivational speech on video from him during the early 90's and despite the lisp, it was entrancing. Maybe Pollard could put him on salary for every team in the athletic dept.
