Oklahoma Favored over Missouri in Big 12 Championship

If the oddsmakers are right the Missouri Tigers National title hopes will be all but over and the Tigers run at #1 will be a short one. The sports books have opened the Sooners as 3-point favorites in the Big 12 Championship at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The Tigers are number one in both the AP and BCS polls for the first time in four decades. Missouri jumped on Kansas early in the game and dominated much of it before Kansas scored a few late touchdowns in the second half to bring the score to 36-28 Missouri. Kansas was favored anywhere from minus 1-2 and the game went under the total of 66 points. Missouri is 10-1 on the season with its only loss earlier in the year to Oklahoma. The Tigers have also been a good covering team going 9-2 against the spread. Missouri has lost the last five and six of the last seven to Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is 10-2 on the season could destroy the Big 12 hopes of playing in the National title game with a win over Missouri. The Sooners were only 6-6 against the spread this season and have not covered in 6 of the last 8. Oklahoma could have been playing for the right to go to the championship game if not for the lost to Texas Tech two weeks ago before rebounding this week and crushing in-state rival Oklahoma State by a score of 49-17. The other loss was earlier on the year at Colorado.

Back in October these two played in Oklahoma when the Sooners were #6 in the country while Missouri was #11. Chris Brown ran for three touch downs in the second half to lead the Sooners. Missouri took a 24-23 lead in to the 4th quarter but Oklahoma outscored the Tigers 18-7. History was against Missouri in this game as they had lost 16 straight times in Oklahoma. A few costly turnovers helped Oklahoma make it 17. Since this game Missouri has not lost the Sooners were rolling until Texas Tech.

The Big 12 championship is on the line and this should be a good one. The game kicks off at 8:00 PM on the East coast on ABC.

In other college football action, the LSU Tigers are 7.5 favorites to beat the Tennessee in the SEC Championship, Virginia Tech is favored over Boston College in the ACC Championship by 4.5 points and West Virginia is a heavy 28 point favorite over Pittsburgh which will send the Mountaineers from the Big East conference to the BCS National Championship.

I kinda think Mizzou will pound OU. But, only if they give the same effort they did Saturday night. If they do, OU doesn't stand a chance.

Yeah, I don't see Missouri winning this game. Be nice to see a big 12 team in the championship, but i'd also be a little worried about how they'd represent us, especially against WV's offensive firepower. That game would be high-scoring to say the least.

Missouri should have won at OK and gave it away. I think they have a good shot here, although I am worried about it.

no. only 2 teams can make it from 1 conference. I just hope Ohio State doenst get into the National championship game, with Illanoy in the Rose Bowl. That means more money for the lil 11. And an a shot at a bowl game for the chicken hawks. I think i would cry all December if that happened.

No, I believe rules state only 2 teams from the same conference can be in the BCS.

I do wonder if KU will get in. IMO, I think they deserve it but their schedule may very well hurt them.

I think there is a rule like that. Because OSU will get in if someone loses, I really don't want WVU or MU to lose.

There is a chance that 3 big 12 teams could be in the top 6. Say OU wins, they get the automatic bid, Mizzou would not drop a ton and KU would still be up there. What happens then? They should just go to a playoff.

Illinois would not necessarily get the Rose Bowl Bid. Rose Bowl would get first choice among BCS teams to fill the Big Ten slot, I believe. They would not be restricted to Big Ten teams.

Only the top 4 are guaranteed, unless there are already 2 teams from that conference in BCS games (for example if Oklahoma won the Big XII championship game, and Missouri and Kansas both somehow stayed at #3 and #4, only the #3 team would get in).

I completely disagree. I watched the game and IMO, OU dominated that game and Mizzou scored late to make it look respectable
