A&M has a new coach

Mike Sherman, Aggie website seems pretty split on it. What does this do for their program, ie recruiting against Okalahoma and Texas and chances to win the Big XII South?

Yeah, that was more of a result that he was a horrid GM. He loaded up on poor players when he had the dual role, got fired as the GM, and then couldn't win with the crappy players he signed and got canned as HC.

Good coach, bad GM.

I think its a lot harder to go from the pros to college than from college to the pros. Does he have any college experience.

franchione was a pretty good recruiter and has some pretty good kids on his redshirt squad-some of his redshirt kids may be even better than some of the a and m starters.he held them back because he wanted to let the upper class guys finish before his taxi squad or redshirts were allowed to play. franchione was very successful to recruit good underclassmen before they even become seniors in high school to become aggie commits. he had a good nose in getting a lead on recruits-sophs and juniors in texas high schools-kinda like MACD. in our current basketball program at isu. i think only 2or 3 of the current a and m verbals are seroiusly looking at other schools.once a kid has aggie branded into his brain, he will generally stay loyal to a and m. franchione went head to head with mack brown at texas and with les miles at lsu over many recruits and won several recruiting battles against les and mack.he was also very good at getting recruits from the smaller rural schools in texas.

Re: A & M Head Coach is...

I believe i saw somewhere he was actually an assistant coach at aTm before being pulled up by Holmgren to join him in Green Bay. If true, that makes more sense as to why aTm wanted him. He knows the program and administration, knows what is expected out of a hc at aTm.

Mike Sherman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Was at aTm as an oline coach and like most coaches worked his way us as a college coach first.

When all is said and done, more is said than done

I would think being a former pro coach, knowing what it takes to get there - stuff like that, would be an appealing pitch to kids.

The last guy to come from the NFL to the Big 12 didnt work out so well. Just ask Nebraska fans. How is the Ofensive Genus working out for Notre Dame?

yeah kinda like playing for bill callahan. i hear he has a heck of a program going for him over there to the west.

We all remember making fun of our little brother. And then that day came when you looked at him and thought "Crap, when did he become taller than me?" There comes a time when you just know your time has passed and it's their spotlight now.

Yeah, I don't know how Pete Carroll stuggles along either.
