    Re: Bo Pelini-Nebraska

According to sports talk radio, the meeting would have taken place whether Callahan got fired or not. It is not about a new HC, it is the annual end of year meeting to select team MVPs and maybe captains for next year.

LSU is ****** RIGHT NOW...AT MILES AND PELINI FOR COACHING A TEAM WITH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER PLAYERS TO A LOUSY 2 LOSS SEASON. I live in Baton Rouge, am a season ticket holder, and a booster...although both Miles and Pelini have some supporters, most will not be sad when they are gone.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Actually most of the LSU faithful are somewhat happy to see Bo go. They really think his D has underacheived this year with the talent they have. Not blitzing against Ark on 4 and 10 somewhat sealed the deal.

As far as the Hat goes, most understand the lure of UM to coach Miles.

darn, Clone #1 beat me to it.

Someone somewhere pointed out that the firm that assisted JP with our hire is helping TO. Remember all the guys that we were going to hire before GC name came up? Pelini and Gill might be a smokescreen too...

I for one don't much care but it was an interesting theory.
Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see an announcement on Saturday before the SEC Championship game begins. What I know so far is that Osborne has interviewed 4 coaches and is going to spend today-Friday on the recruiting trail.

My money is on Pelini being offered and has accepted the job under the condition that there's no announcement until Saturday so has to not to distract LSU in preparing for the SEC CCG. It can be kept quiet, no one in this state knew that Chizik even interviewed for the job, let alone was offered the job until the plane sent to Austin to pick Chizik and his family up was airborne and returning to Iowa.

I haven't been paying attention to the SEC. Is LSU completely out of the BCS champ picture, or even the BCS?

What happens if Miles goes to Michigan and Pelini to NU. Noway both those schools shut up til after a Jan bowl game. Will LSU allow them to coach? Will Mich/NU allow them to be off the job that long?

A win on Saturday gets LSU in the BCS as the SEC's rep, but not back into the MNC hunt as LSU is 7th in the current BCS poll. If Pelini wants to go after the SEC CCG, with Pelini being only an assistant, I don't think there's much of anything LSU can do, Miles OTOH, might be a different story.

    Thanks for the situtation breakdown.

Yeah, I kinda meant if both are named. I think usually if a coach leaves, most of the time they leave right away - to get a jump on the new job and/or the school they're leaving doesn't let them stick around.

It would be interesting to see the attitudes of each school if both the HC and DC got new jobs in the next week? LSU would be in a bind, and I would think NU and Mich would want them to start right away (recruiting and such)

I have to hope for Gill. He would be hired purely on being one of the family and that has the feeling of a big oops to me. What he has done in Buffalo is not a predictor of what he could do at NU. Pelini scares me more.

I remember Chizik saying at his hiring ceremony that he hadn't even told his own mother until just a little bit before the official announcement.

The guys on 590 here in Omaha aren't real thrilled with either Gill or Pelini. Pelini is seen as a hot-headed guy who goes off when he doesn't get his way. And he's not really from the NU family because he barely had time to get a cup of coffee while he was in Lincoln the last time. Also, the sheer number of times he has hopped jobs in the last few years is scary. He's in it strictly for the money, a coaching mercenary.

Gill, on the other hand, might not be more than TO's puppet on the sideline. It's more likely that he would be here for the long haul (assuming he wins), but it's a big jump from Buffalo to Nebraska. The positive for him is that he already has experience as a HC. For what Nebraska is looking for at this time, Gill is the much better fit. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

My heart is hoping for Gill because 1 - Gill is a better recruiter than Pelini and 2 - Gill currently uses alot of elements of the WCO at Buffalo, which i'm sure he'll bring with him. However, the mob mentality wants Pelini and since Pelini is a defensive guy who can rebuild the Blackshirts, I think Pelini wins out.

As far as Pelini's demeanor goes, well Bob Devaney was no saint on the sideline, nor did he have "Nebraska ties" and things worked out well and as far as job hoping goes, this is Pelini's 3rd year at LSU and was only hired on at OU after being let go by Callahan because of his connections to Stoops, besides, Pelini was "co-defensive" coordinator or something like that at OU.

Bo Pelimi will be the worst coach ...well since billy callahan and we all know how they worked out.
