NFL Network

Is it just me or is the NFL completely hypocritical. They want you to call your cable company outraged that they don't carry the NFL network, while at the same time they refuse to offer the Sunday Ticket to anyone except Direct TV. I would get a dish in a second, but I live in a high rise, so for me its not an option. The NFL can't have it both ways! I hope the cable companies never give in and continue to cost the NFL a fortune in lost advertising revenue until they are allowed to offer the Sunday ticket.

Re: NFL Network

If the situation was really losing significant money for the NFL, then they will eventually back down and offer things. However, if they're not feeling the pinch, they're going to keep going down the road they're on just to prove a point. That's the big difference between the NFL Network and BTN - BTN's going to feel the pinch a lot quicker than the NFL Network.

I like the NFL Network. I like my Direct TV. You do not see me compaining. Mediacom is the devil, and I will never go back after the screwing they gave me.

DirecTV paid billions to have the sole rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket...the NFL isn't going to let anyone else carry the Sunday Ticket because of this.

My only problem with the NFL network is that Gumbel sucks. At the end of the game he called Tony Romo "Rick Romo"

Re: NFL Network

I went to DISH from Mediacom last year and will never go back to that joke for a business. There customer service sucked and they are always striving to find a way to offer less service while jacking your monthly rates as high as they can get away with. DISH has the games on the main channels plus NFL network and 80% of the time they cover the games I want to watch.

Gumbel had many issues last night. Calling the Cowboys the Packers, vice versa, getting player names wrong, etc.

I did like the locker room and field access they had though. Had some good camera angles/shots - especially of the sidelines. But the announcing, mostly Gumbel, was pretty bad.

Gumbel did the same thing last Thursday in the Colts/Falcons game. Collinsworth isn't bad but Gumbel is painful to listen to. They really have no chemistry together at all. There were so many extended pauses in the last 2 games I thought I was listening to the Jim Rome Show.

Re: NFL Network

I had heard last year from many that Gumbel was brutual and after hearing for myself, I don't think brutual even comes close to describing him. Those still shots that NFL Network used last night were pretty cool.

With NBA TV and NFL Network, DirecTV rocks and will even get better when the MLB Network lanuches in 2009. Will the last Mediacom subscriber please turn the lights off on that joke of a company when you cancel?

Re: NFL Network

Did you all notice when one of the announcers called one of the Dallas players a tool. It was supposed to be a compliment. I had to rewind the DVR and hear that one again. LOL

I now have DirecTV and have had Mediacom and Dish Network also. I really think all three will screw you over if given the chance. I like the stuff I get with DirecTV, but I really hate the 2 year commitment that I didn't sign for or have anybody tell me about until AFTER the installation when I couldn't back out if I wanted to (not that I really want to). No matter what there's not a perfect option...but the absolute worst of the three in my experience Dish Network...HORRIBLE customer service and they lied about the pricing and didn't come when they were supposed to.

Gumble is an embarrassment. Not for me, but for himself. Hearing his voice makes me think it's 7:30AM and the Today show's on. By the way, did he get fired from NBC?
