Re: What do you have? Mediacom, Directv, Dish, other?

When we built our home in the country, our only choice for expanded tv was Dish Network. Therefore, I can't comment on Mediacom or Direct TV, but we are extremely happy with Dish & yes we do have the NFL channel.

I don't have mine "hooked up" yet (gotta have the broadband internet connection, either with a eithernet or wireless connection)...but you can find more info about it here (discussion forum and info site)...

DBSTalk.Com

I need to run a eithernet cable from my router to the DirecTV box through the basement. May be a project for this weekend.

Meadiacom would not hook cable up to my house. They could not get it in my area. The Freaking cable box is in my backyard, (25 yards from house) the neighbors to the north and east and west all have cable. So I told them that they lost my business forever.

[quote=DaddyMac;26356]My wife's final hang up is she doesn't want to lose OnDemand from our premium services. Shows like Big Love, Entourage - stuff like that. I've seen that DirecTV has a similar service, but can't find any detail on how it works or what is exactly offered. [quote]

I love the OnDemand feature... It's great to be able to watch movies, Entourage, Big Love, Sopranos, Flight of the Conchords and of course ISU games and coaches shows whenever you want...

I've got medicom and I like it....but I've been trying to get a DVR/HD receiver from them since September, I just recently told them they have 2 week to deliver me a DVR or I'm pulling the plug. Not to mention they've reduced the number premium channels fewer HBO's & Starz b/c they have all those movies on demand, their words not mine.

If they are all OnDemand then what is the problem?

I flip way too much, says my wife. I also dont think its right to keep prices the way they are and take away channels. Why not just have 1 HBO channel then like the old days. Hey their all on demand.

Thank god in Cedar Falls u can have CFU they are the best ever. Have had the NFL Network in HD from the start. Mediacom might as well cut the power off in this city nobody wants their crap here.

That was my beef as well. MediaCom does a really good job of taking away, taking away and somehow the prices still go up.

And it's a minor point, but when you watch the new airing shows like Bill Mahrer or any of the original programming, I could catch the west coast broadcast if I came home late, or was watching something else during the east broadcast. But it's not typically put OnDemand for a few days.

Had DTV for 12 years now....Other than ch22, I see no advatnages to mediacomm. I had HD on DTV before most people had ever even seen HD. It was cool to show people an HD signal when they have never seen any video better than DVD.

Yeah, say The Departed is on HBO east and I missed a scene I like, cranberry juice scene for example. I know I can catch that scene a little later on the HBO west and still watch basketball on ESPN, but now unfortunatley I can not. I dont want to have to fast forward for 5 minutes just to watch a 2 minute clip. That was the beauty orginally of the premium HBO's

By the way, for those of you looking for info on the DirecTV on demand feature on dbstalk.com (or anywhere else)...it's referred to as DOD I believe.

Also, this is still in BETA, so probably a fair amount of bugs to be worked out.

With dish I just DVR a ton of stuff in HD. I have the departed in HD and can watch any seen whenever i want. I think dish dvr has over 60 hours available but not sure. I havent filled it up yet.

Had mediacom in town. Liked ch.22 and the on demand feature. Moved to the farm and had to get dish and love all the hd. like just about everyone on here, pros and cons to each but i would take dish back to town with me. I cant get enough of the rush hd channel.

Also i have heard the hd package will get much bigger soon.

We had Mediacom for several years and just switched to DirecTV (had before for a couple years). We love it and I'd never go back.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.
