What do you have? Mediacom, Directv, Dish, other?

I read a stat that said 66% of the nation couldn't watch the game last night which really surprised me...I thought more people had satellite.

What do you have?

Mediacom (or another cable provider).
Directv
Dish Network
None

Do you like what you have and why? There are a lot of CFers that have posted questions about switching...maybe if we get others pros/cons/complaints it can better help them make a decision.

I've got Direct. I had Mediacom for 4 or 5 years and just switched. The main reason being that my rates were ridiculous. I'm saving about $40/month with the switch.

DirecTV

HATE IT! Only have it because its free with the apt. When we moved to our townhouse in Ankeny in a month I'm getting Mediacomm.

I have had DirecTV for about a year and I LOVE it. You have a lot of options on extra packages (NFL Sunday Ticket, NBA, MLB, Nascar Hotpass, etc.) along with a ton of HD channels with more coming.

I'm thinking about getting the NFL Sunday Ticket next year which will make it even better.

I have had all 3, I like DirecTV mainly for MLB Extra Innings, my biggest beef is that the their sports pack is $12 something, Dish Network's is half the price.

In my experience these systems are not up to par. The landlord is basically splitting a signal and routing to all apartments. The quality sucks and usually never functions up to it's abilities.

There are cable companies that carry the channel. Comcast for one carries the channel.

MediaCom

To quote mjones34 - HATE IT. Desperately trying to get the wife convinced to go back to DirecTV. Have had more trouble with MediaCom service and equipment. Everytime I see those commercials that says cable is better, more reliable and easier to deal with than satellite - I want to kick my tv in.

My wife's final hang up is she doesn't want to lose OnDemand from our premium services. Shows like Big Love, Entourage - stuff like that. I've seen that DirecTV has a similar service, but can't find any detail on how it works or what is exactly offered.

Anybody use this? I've seen some gripes that you need highspeed internet and it downloads the program to your DVR. No biggie there as long as it's fairly fast, easy and convenient. And yes, she's already shot down the "just record it" option. She wants to be able to OnDemand it without worry of having to record it first.

I think your poll will be a little skewed here, because I think it is mostly sports fans that have the dish options and people who may not care as much about sports just stick with cable.

Re: What do you have? Mediacom, Directv, Dish, other?

It's not so much DirecTV as it's the landlord buying the cheapest everything with it. We get the bare minimum and the hint of a storm cuts it out. I about %^&* myself during the Big Brother finale!

Mediacom--up until 5 months ago, all I had was an antenna, so I love it. We'll see how I feel after the special price goes away in July...

We've got Dish Network. It's great unless the Clones are just on Mediacomm then it sucks which seems to be happening more frequently lately. We have the DVR which is fantastic we almost never watch a show at its regularly scheduled time, just set it to tape a show for the season and watch after the kids go to bed with no commercials. And the pausing option is super. You can pause a show/game for up to 2 hours, great for those runs to the fridge and bathroom.

Don't be so sure. Mediacom's HD lineup is god awful (only 10 networks with none on the way), while Dish & DirecTV offer at least 7 times the number of HD networks.
