Who is hunting this weekend?

Who else is going to go brave the elements this weekend and try to fill the freezer with some quality venison? I just spent my lunch break trying to find a good waterproof hat and was a little suprised by all the people out getting licenses... Thought the weather might have scared them off...

Re: Who is hunting this weekend?

i wish i was.. but nooooooooooo.. i have drill....

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Who is hunting this weekend?

I usually drive back to eastern Iowa to hunt with my dad, brother, and uncles during 1st season. This year I was planning on driving back Saturday morning, as I'll be at the Women's BBall game tonight. However, with the pending weather for tomorrow, I probably will miss this year's Iowa deer season .

I did spend 5 days in western Nebraska about 2 1/2 weeks ago hunting for muley's . The results of that trip are waiting for me to pick up at the locker . I might try a little waterfowl hunting this weekend and see if any birds are moving through yet.

To everyone going out this weekend; be careful - hunt safe!!

Re: Who is hunting this weekend?

Yeah we just got an 1" of snow last night. Perfect for pushing through the woods! On a side note Bo Jackson came up here last year to do some bow hunting. Word was he was impressed with the size of the white tail deer in the area. Hoping for a nice 8 pointer and then eliminate a doe.

Bo actually comes up here quite a bit... I know he likes to bow hunt around Guthrie Center and word is you can find him at 'prime time' getting some prime rib when he's around....

I got this guy last year during bow season... Wasn't as lucky during shotgun season last year...

Gutherie Center? That is the area where we're going. I'll keep an eye out for his truck.

Ross Dettman for ESPN.comIf you see this pickup on the roadway, you'd better get out of the way before you get the Bosworth treatment.

Nice article on Bo Jackson and his love for hunting......HERE

Re: Who is hunting this weekend?

This picture was captured in Cedar Falls.....why go to the woods....well it was a lot warmer then...But really, these same deer are now in survival mode and they won't be so easily detected unless we get a good blanket of snow on the ground before sun-up tomorrow...But funny how animals know when its safe to be near humans and when they need to disappear!!!

Enjoy the weekend hunters, wish i could get out there gotta go to the cities to watch my wifes fav team - the vikes, i hope they win in a shootout...they play the lions this week and Kitna needs to have a huge day (fantasy qb)....
