Wrestling: Perry out vs ISU

I know it had been discussed in the ISU-MN thread...found this and wanted to share. Jon posted this last night.

I spoke to someone on Sunday evening that knows the world of wrestling quite well, especially in this state...and he was under the impression that Perry would be out.

Honestly that kind of sucks, he was going to wrestle Reader right? That would be a great match.

Oh great, this is setting it up now for all the "if only we didn't get screwed by Perry not being able to wrestle we would have won easily" excuse they will start giving after we take them to the woodshed.

Hawkeye and "excuse maker" are synonyms(sp)

Yep, I was looking forward to Reader take it too Perry, just so everyone can see the talent that Jon has.

Well, I guess ISU just needs to win by more than 6. That way Iowa fans can't use this as an excuse.

I guess we will have to wait for these two to wrestle later in the season.

Thus, Iowa will likely use freshman Jake Kerr in place of Perry against sixth-ranked Iowa State freshman Jon Reader. Kerr dropped a decision against Reader last season in the championship match of the Glen Brand Open, but Kerr defeated Reader in a freestyle meeting later in the spring at the FILA Junior freestyle championships in Las Vegas.

I still like Reader's chances.

Do DQ's like this happen very often in High School or College? I'm no expert, but this seems rare to me........

Have you checked the Hawk board predicitions recently? I haven't, but I think a few of them had a pin penciled in for Perry. They've probably now been forced to change that match to a major decision for Iowa. WooHoo!! Two more points for ISU!!
