OT - What would you do???
So here is the situation.
There is a guy that sits across from me at work. The good news is he only shows up about 1 day a week because I think he "works" at home most of the time.
When he is here, he has on his headphones and ACTUALLY sings and hums ALL DAY LONG! By the end of the day I want to tear my hair out.
Do I put up with it? Do I ask him to stop?
He is a higher level manager than myself so I don't know if I want to ruffle any feathers.

Take his cell phone and place it above his desk on top of the ceiling tiles then call it all day until he goes crazy and has to take anger management courses....worked on The Office.

Re: OT - What would you do???
Put on headphones and ignore him.
Ask him what he is listening to. Or when he starts singing, tap him on his shoulder, say I love that song and start singing it to him.
Just in case you didn't know... I'm a girl. -

Let me know how that goes, I have the same thing (humming) here.
Also, we have cubes that open back to back to one another. I have a fifty-something behind me who passes gas like it's WW I. I swear I'm about to get one of those citrus air fresheners - the really strong ones, and bomb him next time he does it.

Re: OT - What would you do???
How many other people sit close to him? Does he have any clue that this annoys you?
If you could get away with it without being tagged, leave an anonymous printed note on his chair/desk, politely asking him to stop as it is distracting his neighbors.
Or, you could put a dead rodent in his cube.

Tough one. We have a guy hear that does that but I dont sit by him. You could ask him politely to not do it. Is he at least in tune?

Re: OT - What would you do???
I usually fire up my iPod, but today for example I am on conference calls most of the day. 1 time, not today, I actually had someone on the line hear it!
Before I worked here I found out this same guy got moved over to where he sits now because a few people complained! Lucky me....

Re: OT - What would you do???
Lay a hard left to the side of his head
I would just ask him if he can keep it down a bit as it's distracting.
