Cubs continue to make minor moves
For those fans that weren't happy with the Cubs picking up Infante..his time is done as a cub already and so is Will Ohman. At first it doesn't look like a great deal but it is a great salary dump when you add in the Jacque Jones salary that is also gone. Now we just have to hope Jim makes a move for the right fielder we need! GoatRiders of the Apocalypse -
Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
This wasn't a minor move. We got rid of that joke of a pitcher Will Ohman. And if freed up almost 4 million.

Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
I'm holding out hope that they go get Tejada & Bedard in some sort of package deal with Baltimore. The O's are looking to dump salary and although some folks have soured on Tejada, I still love the guy. He brings a ton of postive energy/hustle to the ballpark everyday and is a consistent force every single year. I don't think I need to say how good Bedard is...

Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
I don't see a major decision made until Fukudome decides what he is going to do...Sounds like he is the top person on the list right now.

Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
That's what it sounds like. I haven't even looked up Fuku's stats but from what I've heard he'd probably be a good pick up...anyone think that he's going to make or break the Cubs season next year if they get him/don't get him?

Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
not sure about fuku..but as a braves fan, i can certainly tell you that jose ascaino will be a pleasant surprise for all you cubs fans!! the guy has an extremely live arm, with pretty decent control. not to mention the fact the hes only 22. i think its a good deal for both teams really though.. cubs free up some cap room and add a solid reliever, while the braves get the utility man they have been looking for to back up yunell escobar, chipper and kelly johnson, and also a lefty for the pen. although im not real high on ohman, it seems if used correctly (I.E. left handed specialist) he could be a good addition to this years team. getting excited for baseball in december -
Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
I think minor moves are the way to go... They just need a little bullpen work and maybe a starter... With Dempster moving back to the rotation, maybe he will put together a solid year.

Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
Fukudome, 30, would be a good fit in the Cubs lineup. He batted .294 for the Chunichi Dragons, and has a career on-base percentage of nearly .400 and a career slugging percentage of better than .500.
The left-handed hitter was named the Central League's Most Valuable Player in 2006 when he hit .351 with 31 homers and 104 RBIs. He was limited to 81 games in 2007 before undergoing season-ending surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow.

Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
These minor moves could turn into a big move...looks like Fukudome is coming to America. I hope he will be a cub and bring us a consistant bat in right field! FOX Sports on MSN - MLB - Fukudome decides to leave Japan for MLB -
Re: Cubs continue to make minor moves
Yeah, I've also been hearing they are talking about Brian Roberts in a trade and the main players in return would probably be Sean Marshall and either Ronny Cedeno or Eric Patterson. I think the Fukudome thing is the main domino to fall on what the Cubs make a move for next.

This would make no sense. Why would the Cubs trade three decent (not great, but decent) prospects for a guy who plays a position that we already have too many guys playing? If we make a deal, I hope it's for an outfielder that can be an anchor.
