Missing easy shots

I watched the ISU - EIU replay last night. Granted. I am not a WBB expert, but have seen several games over the years. The thing that is hard for me to understand is the number of easy shots they miss. I am talking layups and 1-2 foot put backs. They should have blown out Iowa by 30+, but missed way too many easy shots. Lacey is the only player that consistently made her layups.

Same can be said for the men this year.

Re: Missing easy shots

You're absolutely right. However, this is not the norm in the women's games. Both teams were shooting pretty horrid during the game. Our women do not normally shoot that poorly.

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

No kidding. The Drake game was brutal for Garrett and Hubalek. How many point blank shots do you want?

Re: Missing easy shots

ya it was just kinda an off night.. we didnt shoot to well from behind the arc either.. but lately its been our D that has stepped up and during this game ball control.. to hold iowa to 28% shooting and to force 17 turnovers and to commit 5 is pretty awesome

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Missing easy shots

I wish our men could shoot the trey like our women do. Would sure take a lot of defensive attention off our big guys.

I think if we had a three point shooting contest between the men's and women's team, it would be no contest.

Re: Missing easy shots

My kingdom for a real three point shooter. I would personally donate 25,000 credits to get that shooter on this team. The inside game has a very hard time because the outside game is ZERO threat....our outside shooting percentage is dependent on the outside air temprerture for the game.

I will chip in 200,000 credits.

have you ever got caught outside In a strong rainfall? Yes or NO. If it"s yes, then you might half felt the pane of hard(tought) rain on you head. If it hurt"s then it"s tough. Yes or no. Okay I'm right and you know it.

So alothough you attempt"ed to say you didn"t understnad, now you do. Fair enough?

I was very surprised by this. I don't watch a lot of women's games and have only been to 1 or 2, but from the times I have watched and listened to them, 3's were the strong point.

It is nice though that they have people like Ross and Wieben, who can get the points in the paint when those 3's don't fall.

Yeah, we talked about this in the post-game thread a bit.

Really was the worst offensive night for the girls, but probably one of the best defensive. After about the 10 minute mark or so, the bunny layups started falling more easily

I thought the game was officiated so the teams could play physically. I thought both teams got away with some shoves and grabs on shooters under the basket. I also thought that Iowa was focussing thier defense on stopping the 3 point shots. After the way the woman have shot a couple nights this year, I don't blame them.
