I heard that Jake was asked to leave the team by Ferentz. The rumor being he is not a team player. I mean come on he has not even been arrested once over the past 2 years. Even the Hawks have a reputation to uphold. | | |

Jake is a standup class act...just doesn't fit in there - time to transfer.

My source said that KF is taking Jake to Michigan with him. After sitting out one year he will be poised to lead Michigan to the Motor City Bowl.

I'd take Jake as a backup.

The Iowa FB program is a mess right now IMO. Marty had some guy on from the Cedar Rapids Gazzette last night that was talking about recruiting and said it wasn't going too well and that they really haven't addressed their biggest need which is getting a RB and another QB to come in and compete. Said JC right now is the starter and sadly doesn't see anyone behind him making a push to take the spot over which says a lot about the lack of quality depth at QB because they've always had someone that has challenged like Banks and Tate when they were backing up the guys they succeeded. They are recruiting some Juco QB which you would think would mean if they sign a juco QB it would be to throw in the mix right away since they only have 2 years. He also thought DD is not going to be back but you never know. Lot of interesting stuff but the overall theme he had was there are a lot of questions about the Iowa FB team right now that need to be answered and no one really has any right now.

This is NOT a made up story...my friend who plays for the University of Iowa says the team has no confidence in Jake. He didn't improve during the season. I asked if there was another QB on the bench who was better. He said, "if there was, he would have been playing." That is the state of the QB position. Their options are:
1. use Jake
2. bring in a true freshman to start
3. bring in a juco.
Not a very good situation.

I saw more of his backside running for his life and on the ground than I did his front side this year. He has a permanent tank tread on the back of his uniform. Lucky he did not play OSU.

Maybe he didn't like the wind in Iowa City that forced so many of his passes high, low, behind, or out front.

Not sure I could come up with a compelling reason to stay if I was him. Let's see:
I sucked.
The program is in the tank.
My coach is an offer away from leaving.
My fans are d-bags.
I'm in Iowa City.
HMMMM....
