Yeah, for $250 a pop.
I went. It isn't worth going if you're not a NCC member- they got in 30 minutes early and picked the place clean in about half that time. When us dumb schmoes got in, the only sizes left in ANYTHING were 2XL and 3XL. With the NCC folks, money is no object- they're either too rich too care, or too big of a fan to care. There were folks dropping $800, $900 on stuff, and they weren't even buying helmets. (I saw one guy buy 11 helmets...) Not to mention that by the time 9:45am hit, the checkout line was literally 135 yards long- it stretched all the way along the south endzone line and then all the way north to the back wall before curving around again. It was ridiculous.
Bottom line: the sale is awesome for the athletic department, but as a fan, there's no reason to go unless you're an NCC member who's going to be in line by 8am.
Wow....um....ok.
Not all NCC members are "too rich to care". We certainly are not.
You may be upset you didn't get a chance to buy items you want...but to rip on fellow fans that are spending money to support the athletic department? http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/confused.gif
I guess I don't feel that bad about not making it. I remember going in '94 and it was pretty empty and I got some nice golf apparel and new indoor cleats. Has the sale become a "bigger deal" now a days?
Ummmm....Ok. The NCC is composed of fans that care enough to pay the 'oh so gaudy' minimum of $50/year. Why bag on them?? Furthermore, why bag on the university for giving them first dibs? I think they earned it by supporting the Athletic Department financially.
Don't lie 22 ... I know you are rich:wink:
Wow, relax, folks. You seriously misconstrued my post- I'm not ripping on NCC members at all. I'm stating facts- they were buying hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and for most of them, it obviously wasn't a big deal (based on behavior and conversation). The fact is that a huge number of NCC members got in 30 minutes ahead of the general public and bought all the "normal" sizes. That's not a criticism or condemnation; it's just what happened. Lay off.
I went in with no expectations whatsoever- I didn't know what it would be like or what would be up for sale. I'm not disappointed in the least that I didn't purchase anything- it was my decision to put back the stuff I had because I didn't want to wait in line for 3 hours to buy it. I'm thrilled that there were so many people there that the wait was that long in the first place.
Hello all, this is relatively in line with the thread. So hopefully no one will get upset. I'm looking for a game used helmet or jersey for Christmas. Does anyone know how reputable the ones on eBay are? I've even seen a seller advertising a game-worn jersey and helmet from the Iowa game this year. I'd really like one, but at the same time don't want one that was made in someones' basement. Could someone help me out, plz? PM me, if you could, so this won't derail the thread. Thanks
Do helmets even cost $250 new?
The sale was great. I got a helmet for $250, a jacket for $20, pair of new Nike shoes for $20 and two hats for $10 each.
I got there a couple minutes before 9 and all the helmets were already gone!!! Luckily as I was pouting my fiance was rummaging through jackets trying to find me stuff to make me feel better. As I was standing there a guy went back to the table and put two helmets back. I asked if I could have one and he said yes because he didn't think his wife would be too happy if he spent that much money. SCORE! That was the whole reason for my trip and all the extra stuff was just icing on the cake. After I left I was thinking about all the other stuff I should have bought to give away as Christmas gifts. It's hard to beat new Nike shoes for $20. I did feel sorry for all the non donors standing in line watching everything get grabbed up. The people working informed us they will have more helmets at the spring sale if anyone still wants one. The cost of NCC membership was worth it just for this sale. Next year I will get there much earlier so I can grab some other things that were gone before I arrived or the only sizes left were too big.
Does anyone know if EIU has a similar sale?
And what costs more game used uniforms or prison uniforms?
