Interesting. Certain kind do that or is that supposedly a side effect of all of them?
depends on the chemicals used. Stay away from anything with salt in it.

They all seem to place disclaimers that they aren't responsible for killing your driveway. And most recommend not using it on newer concrete.

I agree, I refuse to use ice melt as it chips the driveway and kills the grass. Sand tracks into the house and grinds on the hardwood floors

I prefer to use 'Oil Dry' (a 20 lbs bag is $3.00 at Wal Mart) and cast it out on the ice. Doesn't melt the ice but gives great traction. Plus when it warms up faster when the sun comes back out. Kitty litter works good too. Best part is they never run out of it.

Re: More snow/ice headed our way...

I have a buddy who is part owner in a business that makes a product called "Safe Walk". It is made out of corn by products and is safe on new concrete and works just as good as anything out there. I have a newer house and have used it and no cracks or chips at all. It is also safe for your grass when you scoop the snow/ice off into your yard. The other stuff would kill grass.

It's called "Safe Walk" and it is good stuff and better yet safe for your concrete and your yards. They carry it at Hy-Vee I know and other retailers.

Question for the day: Can I still make season tickets work for FB and MBB if I move to Canada?

I just park in the street when I can't make it up my driveway. One of these days the City's going to nail my car so I can get a new one, like they did my mailbox last year.

Thanks for the info. :)

Snow has basically stopped here in Grimes and nothing on the radar.

Now will be the fun part, trying to clean this all off your driveway....

We need some sun in the next few days to melt all the ice.

Are we done? My wife called and said that this is just the lull between the storms.

I just went out and started my car. 1/2 of it is thick with ice. I had to pull at my door to get it open.

My avatar is a pic I took from my phone camera at the spring game. Gotta love Cy on a bike.

Don't storms usually come from the west?
