Re: More snow/ice headed our way...

Ankeny schools are closed, and I work in urbandale, so I guess I get to trek in...

I work in WDM and live in Altoona and am calling a snow day for myself. SE Polk, Saydel, Urbandale, Johnston, WDM schools all closed (which are all on my way to work). I could probably get to work but getting home is another thing.

I made it downtown at 6am from Johnston. No problems just drove slow. Are the temps going to go down or what? The weather sites from who and kcci suck.

Re: More snow/ice headed our way...

From what they are saying on the radio (WHO) the temps are going down and the ice will turn to snow later today. Snow on top of ice - not a good combo.

If I recall the only time Ames Schools close along with ISU is when Cy-Ride deems it extremely difficult to get along the roads.. so only in a blue moon will the public ones close

Every time I learn something new, something old gets pushed out of my brain

Per the morning news, everything is going to freeze and the rain/sleet will eventually turn to snow. It's going to get bad.

Re: More snow/ice headed our way...

Right now the Des Moines roads are just slushy. If the temp drops it might make things tricky but snow on top of ice actually makes for some better traction too.

Ames isn't closed, just Ames CHristian.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

The way I read that, it's just saying IF those schools are cancelled, it will run them across the bottom of the TV screen, because I'm on campus and there's still activity.
