Recruiting this year versus last year

I think our recruiting is much better this year. Last year at this time I only think we had a handful of commits. After this week I think we will have 15 known commits with a few more under wraps. I have noticed that the size and speed of our recruits has also gotten better. Schwartz is the only recruit under 6'0". They seem to have good speed for their size. The O linemen look to be at least 6'3" or bigger and the D linemen are also that size. I also think that our recruits are not academic risks. It seemed that a lot of Mac's better recruits didn't make it here. Grade or test issues. In the past it always seemed like we were scrambling to get our schollies filled. I don't get the feeling that this will be a problem this year. This makes me enthused for the future. With the way we finished and another year in the system, I will definitely be back on board for season tickets. I look for Pollard to reduce the price just a bit because we only have six games.

A little of topic but I noticed Pat White with their team chapalin after he got hurt vs. Pitt. I assume they were having a get healthy prayer and not a win prayer.

Not to be pessimistic, but I doubt Pollard will reduce prices. At the minimum, he'll keep them the same as last year. (Which makes the ticket prices seem like there is no $ increase)

I just don't see how he can stick with the $350 price tag along with increased donations. I see it being more like $325 for only six games. The Cy's Pack at $175 to $185. And the endzone seat prices remaining the same price as last year. And hopefully maintain or increase season ticket sales. It would not be a good thing to have ticket sales drop.

i'm already prepared to up my donation and pay whatever the cost of the tickets are. hopefully the price stays the same and we set another season ticket sales record. that is what it is going to take to get there. i know it's not easy for everyone to afford, but i know that i can so i am going to do it-i just wish some of these rich older alums would give everything they can afford-i know several who don't and it makes me sad to think that they have 10 times the amount of money that i have and are only giving back the same amount as i am.

The richer older alums might have a lot of hands in their pockets. The kids keep coming home......and they keep bringing more with them (Grandkids). I plan on buying tickets. I don't think they will cost anymore. But I thought we might see a slight reduction since there are fewer games.

I expect them to be the same as last year...even with one less home game. I too am upping my donation level.

Hope everyone continues to support Chiz....we can do this TOGETHER.

Re: Recruiting this year versus last year

well to get back on the topic...I HOPE that our recruiting is better than last year at this point. at this point Chizik hadn't even been in Ames for a month and had to start putting together a makeshift class. He has had an entire year now and is continuing to build and work his pipelines. The fact that we won't be "scrambling" to fill our schollies is definitely something to be positive about. I already can't wait to see last year's freshmen along with this years newcomers who will be on campus at the Spring Game. Can a brotha get a countdown?

I'd be a little surprised if the price doesn't go down. We don't have Iowa (which even my regular season ticket price was $82), and we lose Texas and Oklahoma.

I think they'll go up on a per-game basis, but overall season tickets will probably be a little lower than last year.

well isnt this just the thread of digging up the dead

We all remember making fun of our little brother. And then that day came when you looked at him and thought "Crap, when did he become taller than me?" There comes a time when you just know your time has passed and it's their spotlight now.
