Michigan looking at Cam Cameron?

Seriously?
from this article:

WOLVERINES EYEBALLING CAMERON?

With Saints coach Sean Payton not interested in becoming the next head coach at the University of Michigan, there's talk in league circles that Athletic Director Bill Martin wants to pursue Dolphins coach Cam Cameron, if Cameron is fired.

Per one league insider, Martin believes that Cameron's 0-13 (and counting) performance in his first year as an NFL head coach is an aberration.

Cameron was an assistant coach at Michigan from 1984 through 1993, and he was the head coach at Indiana. The program is looking for an offensive guru to lead the team after the retirement of Lloyd Carr.

But the pitiful performance of the Dolphins under Cameron apparently is making the former Chargers offensive coordinator a hard sell to alumni and boosters.

As we understand the scuttlebutt, Cameron prefers the NFL, and would be interested only if fired by the Fins. The possibility that Cameron would land on his feet (and that his buyout would be reduced by his salary at Michigan) could make Miami owner Wayne Huizenga even more likely to make a change after only one season.
You think Ferentz was a tough sell to the fanbase, how about a guy who's record as a head coach is 18-53 over the last 5 years? (18-37 at Indiana, and 0-16 (potentially) at Miami). At least he's 3-2 vs. the Hawks!

I think he would cement himself with the worst record as a head coach in the NFL. Wow, this whole Michigan thing makes me even more happy how our coaching search turned out.

Foster: U-M's clumsy coaching search threatens to damage program's reputation

They aren't real impressed with the whole Michigan coaching search process in Detroit

If they look at Cameron this guy will have a gripper

Mind the gap!

You have got to be kidding me. Didn't they routinely thump the Cam Man when he was at IU?

JOIN THE NATIONAL CYCLONE CLUB!
“If we truly want to do this, this is the time to step up. Iowa State University has 175,000 living alumni. If one-of-every-10 living alumni joined the National Cyclone Club at the minimum level of $100, we could finance $30 million worth of construction." Jamie Pollard

If Michigan doesn't find someone soon I think Dan McCarney will be the next coach there...

IU under cam vs Michigan
97 - L 37-0
98 - L 21-10
99 - L 34-31
00 - L 58-0
01 - DNP

so yeah, not a great record against MI.

Actually, looking at his record at Indiana, he only had 2 real quality wins, over then #22 Minnesota in 2000, and then #22 Michigan State in 2001. Here are his wins by season:

97' (2-9) Ball State, Illinois
98' (4-7) Western Michigan (hehe), Cincinnati, Iowa, Minnesota
99' (4-7) Ball state, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa
00' (3-8) Cincinnati, Iowa, #22 Minnesota
01' (5-6) Wisconsin, Northwestern, #22 Michigan State, Purdue and Kentucky

Doesn't exactly scream "great coach" to me. Indiana is a tough place to win at in football, but so is ISU. We at least get to a bowl once every 4 or 5 years.

Sure that Brian Kelley won't be kidnapped and forced to take the job by the alumni?

When I think of Cam Cameron, I think of a big sucking noisce like made at the Bay of Fungi.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.
