ISU-Iowa game draws 5th biggest crowd this season

Nice (but short) article in the DMR talking about women's basketball attendance.

Wednesday's Iowa at Iowa State women's basketball game drew the sport's fifth-largest crowd this season.

The Cyclones' 58-44 victory had a paid of attendance of 12,931 at Hilton Coliseum. That is one of six women's basketball games to top a 12,000 turnout this season, according to Monday's weekly tabulation by the University of Wisconsin. The other five were all at Tennessee.

Don't let SH read this thread, there are too many factual numbers in it .... He may talk about $25 tickets for who knows what game.

Iowa and Drake averaging nearly the same for attendence. yikes...then again, criminal charges seem to prove women don't really matter too much in Iowa City. Was that below the belt? sorry.

That is not a bad crowd to be in with Tennessee and UConn. Then comparing it to a school like Iowa at almost 8K less. That is pretty amazing the type of WBB fans for ISU.

I've always wondered how big of a change it is for the girls when they go to other big 12 schools like colorado where they draw 700 people in for a game. It must feel like middle school all over again

That also has to be a good draw for recruiting. A player comes to ISU for a game and sees a rocking Hilton, then goes to another school and see's under 1000 people. That has to make a strong impact on some people.

You have to remember that Hawk fans shouldn't be expected to to pay the tens of dollars it cost to "support" their WBB team. They're already broke from overspending on their mediocre football season.

Yeah... I thought it was funny this weekend that he didn't say much after the Basektball game, but once Iowa beat us in Wrestling you couldn't shut the poor kid up. He doesn't work well with factual numbers.

Its great to see all the Hawkeye wrestling fans that crawled out of the wood work after this weekend. Sad and PATHETIC actually.

That does include you Mr Jon Miller.

Good work Cyclone fans....
