Weak Secondary?
Where are all the brain surgeons who were cackling about the squawks weak secondary last week? How about a first time starter locking down?

Re: Weak Secondary?
I agree They locked ISU without their top dog pascal. Man Iowa actually has a fairly good d backfield. Scary too realizing they are all just pups. I was at the game today and sat with some ISU students. I am a hawk fan first but Those kids I sat with were great. Real good sports. That crackback block by iowas lineman was absolutely brutal. What a game. BOth teams I think will be OK this year.

Re: Weak Secondary?
Oh, I thought you were talking about ours!
#21, Safety Caleb Berg, does not appear to belong on a D1 football field. He plays 10-12 yards off the line, even on third & three. He's the guy who made that Toledo TE look like the next coming of Antonio Gates. Watch the replay of the Iowa game and you'll see him in the frame on all their TD's as well as the Chandler juggle that set them up first & goal. In three games I've yet to see him deliver a significant hit or make a play on a ball. He's no Nik Moser!

Re: Weak Secondary?
Hopefully we'll see James Smith on the field soon, since he's supposed to be a big hitter. I haven't seen a truly punishing hit once yet this year.
-
Re: Weak Secondary?
Yes Caleb Berg is just horrible on pass defense but i guarantee you he is a bigger hitter than James Smith. Did you not see him in the Toledo game? He had 3 of the biggest hits in that game. Granted it was after he had blown coverage but the guy is big and can hit. To bad thats all

Re: Weak Secondary?
Caleb Berg is definitely a liability in coverage, really aggressive run stopper. More suited for special teams kamakaze in my opinion. Banks made a couple of nice plays covering Chandler yesterday though.

Re: Weak Secondary?
If Baum or Harris were better options at safety...I think we'd seem them on the field. The fact that we haven't tells me it's Berg until we get Smith back.
Which hopefully will be very, very soon.

Re: Weak Secondary?
Has anyone heard if Parker's doing okay after that huge hit yesterday?

Re: Weak Secondary?
Rumor is he is alrert and fine.

Re: Weak Secondary?
Good - I don't know how he even stood up after that. Thanks, ISUFan22. :)

Re: Weak Secondary?
I thought Alvin Bowen had some good pops in the first two games. He had 15 tackles according to the paper so he should still be up top in the nation.
-
Re: Weak Secondary?
Yeah, Bowen leads the country in tackles by 7 over H.B. Blades from Pitt. As a matter of fact, when I looked on there, ISU had 4 guys in the top 90 with Carper, Banks, Mckenzie, and of course Bowen. Go to www.ncaasports.com to look at the up to date stats.

Re: Weak Secondary?
Got to hit the qb we can not get close

Re: Weak Secondary?
Not a great indicator that you have 4 people in the top 90 in tackles. We must be giving up a lot of first downs.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
