Conference tacking looking good for our LB's

Don't think I would have bet money on this happening before the season. Four guys in the top 9 in the conference.

It just means our defense is on the field too much.

Bowen's numbers would be higher if he didn't miss so may tackles.

But I am glad it's not the safties #1 & 2.

Amen. Nice that our linebackers are doing so much tackling, beats having a safety leading the team.

I'll say it again, the defense is playing good enough to win. If the offense could keep em off the field a bit more, sustain just a few more drives, we would be 3-1, with two very comfortable victories, not nail biters.

It looks like Bowen forgets to break down in the open field sometimes. The fact that he misses tackles and still gets as many as he does goes to show his great pursuit of the ball. And I think it shows the D-line is keeping him free of blockers. Does he still lead the nation?

Alvin leads the nation by 2 in total tackles and is tied for 4th in solo tackles. Newcomer of the Year?

Think I said that in another thread. We must be on the same wavelength or something.

Actually, we would have had one nailbiter - the Texas game

Re: Conference tacking looking good for our LB's

The LB's are getting so many tackles because they're allowing so many short dink and dunk passes. I mean, how many completions did Toledo have? 39 or something crazy like that? UNLV made quite a few too, if I remember right.

High tackling numbers for the LB's just means that we're allowing a lot of completions, IMO.

Not trying to read anything into the numbers. Just think it's cool that we have a player leading the nation in tackles!
