Okie St. Donation/T.Boone/Pollard

Hey guys. This is mostly for those people who want winning before they give their money (which is me to some degree).

Anyway, read this article. Specifically the 5th paragraph down or so.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/colle...donation_x.htm

It talks about having good leadership and money and treating college football/athletics just like any business. It's hard to have success without the two.

Today, still wanted by BCS teams, he survives as a coach of fortune. If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find him- maybe you can hire: Gene Chizik.

Re: Okie St. Donation/T.Boone/Pollard

It's not the argument of $$$ before winning, it's that it is being used as an excuse for DMAC (ISU FAN22) to use for losing.
Look I have said all along that we are behind, however, you have to get people fired up before you reach for their wallets. AND DAN MC#^%&^CARNEY CANNOT DO THAT.
If at any time in his tenure (I believe he is on the tenure track at ISU) he would have given people a reason to be excited about him, and the job that he can do, then we wouldn't even be having this argument.
It hasn't happened, he pissed away all of the momentum from 2000 with shortsighted recruiting, and we had 2003.
The past two years, he has had every opportunity, and we won't discuss that further, but let's just say, we should have been the ones to get pounded by UT.
When the beacons of how well you are doing as a program (Ellis Hobbs, and Reggie Hayward) don't claim you, then that should tell you something.
I know we need new facilities, BUT THE WINS HAVE TO COME FIRST!!!

When did Ellis and Reggie not claim us? I be a little upset if they dissed us for some reason.

They didn't claim us when they introduced themselves on monday nite football (they stated their high school instead of isu). however, that's more common than you'd want to admit - one guy last season even represented his ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!! I wanted to slap him silly

My Roman Villas:
Friley-Godfrey (-66|126)
Helser-Woodrow (-61|122)
Roberts-Harriman (-74|133)
Welch-Ayres (-73|133)

Um, hate to break it to you, Reggie didn't play on Monday nite when the Jags did, so he wouldn't have been introduced. Jacksonville played Monday nite of week 2 and he was lost for the season during the Week 1 game against My 'Boys. granted, I didn't see the intros during that game, so he may have been on it, but he shouldn't have been.

When life gives you paper jams, make paper footballs.

k, i just went with the assumption on reggie hayward. didn't actually see the game. i just thought that's what darts180 was referring to when he said hayward didn't claim us. but i do know for a fact that when the pats played monday nite hobbs claimed his h.s.

Re: Okie St. Donation/T.Boone/Pollard

To expect more monies to flow in we can't lose games to KU and MO like we did the last couple years to miss the Big 12 title game. We also can't beat teams like Toledo and UNLV in the closing seconds. Those loses didn't require more money. Had we won them and whipped up on Toledo and UNLV we wouldn't have to be talking about getting more money, we would already have it.

It's time to move onto a new staff that knows not how to go from last to the middle of the pack like Mac, but how to go from the middle of the pack to the top. Mac has been great for ISU but has served his purpose, and now the university needs to move on. ISU is not about Mac, it's about ISU. Mac is no longer in our best interests.

You should do a little more research on the Pickens gift before you use it as a beacon of hope...

That guy essentially bought an athletic program. There were so many strings attached to that gift including that his companies got to manage the endowment and dictate spending/investments.

We shouldn't ever consider the Pickens gift as something to aspire to....

Re: Okie St. Donation/T.Boone/Pollard

Actually he's putting the 165 mil he donated along with 30 mil donated from the current AD into his hedge fund which right now stand at somehwere around 250 mil or so. He's waving all of his normal fees and there aren't any "official" strings, but I have a feeling if Boone wants something done - or someone gone - it'll happen pretty quickly.

I'm not using it as a beacon of hope. I'm just saying that he's got a proven track record of doing business and making money. He stated in the 5th paragraph that you need money and leadership to make a business go. That's essentially what Pollard is saying.

Today, still wanted by BCS teams, he survives as a coach of fortune. If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find him- maybe you can hire: Gene Chizik.
