I got that idea by reading the posts on this forum. To many accept the excuses of the staff and go back to things like "a win is a win is a win". To me it's about playing up to your potential. I would rather play really well and lose then play really bad and win. That's what I judge this team on, not by the Ws.

I hope everyone realizes the recruits are not leaving until today. Jeremy is not there with them. I would expect he will have something to report either later tonight or tomorrow. Be patient...all is well.

Actually that first half, I don't know what you would call that performance.
Look I am sorry that the potential new recruits had to hear us boo (which by the way this may surprise you I wasn't booing, I was talking about how impressive UNI was with people in my section), but I think I am more sorry that they had to witness that terrible excuse of a performance by this team last night.
Of course I am sure that you saw nothing wrong with how we came out to play last night.

I saw the recruits and McDermot hangin around infront of the student section before the game. They appeared to be having a good time as the students got into the organized cheers before the game. Walker was even doing the "whatcha gunna do" side to side bob with the students
Later in the first half near half time, they took all the recruits through the student section. that was the last time I saw them.
Hopefully they hung around for the second half and saw the crowd really get into the game.
I am optimistic we will have a few more b-ball recruits lined up in a few days. It would help put almost everybody in a better mood.

Can we start the b******ball season now? I am much more comfortable on how the bball season will finish before it starts than how the f***ball season will end. Another good poll question.
Hey, Punky, had a bad day? Then come on over and watch the highlight reel for the UNI f***ball game.

Actually that first half, I don't know what you would call that performance. It's not a matter of whether you have the right to voice your displeasure by booing because you certainly have that right. It's more a matter of maturity and class. Booing not only displays a total lack of both, but also reflects very poorly on all ISU fans. Just my opinion.

I think booing in general is of poor taste. Its demoralizing, doesnt inspire. I dont agree with booing the opposing team either, but when you do it to YOUR team its horrible.

Remember the FSU game a couple years back. Do you think UNI's win helped our team more then that loss. It's about playing great football. That's what produces a great tradition, not 1 point wins over UNI.
Let me try your thought process... "Sounds like you would prefer having ISU play bad versus good." Yep, that was hard to come up with.

Is it any wonder that your rep level is in the red? If there was...this aught to remove any doubt. And I can say I've tried to be objective and never had anything to do with your downward spiral on this site.
Please, think before you post.

Plus, that 2002 team didn't end the season very well, did they? So to say they learned a ton from the FSU loss...well.... | |

Saying that we were outcoached, outplayed, and outexecuted, and holding the people who handle these areas of preperation responsible for almost losing to a 1AA school DOES NOT MAKE YOU A BAD IOWA STATE FAN!!!
It's OK you can have expectations

I know what I want to see, I want to see a team that reaches its potential. I can accept a bad week where you just aren't all there, but 4 1/2 of them is inexcusable.
Have you seen 60 minutes of football from this team all year???
What do you see that makes you think that it gets better???
We play in spurts, but then suck for the rest of it. WHERE IS THE PREPERATION?????

I think my post is right on. It speaks to performance. Not measuring success on just the final score. It's about each person (team) measuring success on their performance, their own high expectations, not whether you're just better then your competition. That's what leads to perfection. If all the great people and organizations in the world took pride in just doing "1 point" better then the competition, there wouldn't be too many great people or achievements. The fact that you don't get it is my concern. Not my rep points.
I bet Blythe didn't feel like a winner Saturday night. I bet he guages his success on whether or not he and the team played up to their potential, not that they won by 1 point. I bet most the players have very little feeling of achievement.
Ever heard of Prefontaine. He competed against himself, pushed himself to the limit every time. He gaged his success not by others, but on whether or not he gave absolutely everything he had and did his absolute best. The fact that he was never satisfied is what made him who he was. Not by being content and satisfied by beating some inferior opponent.

No one here said they were pleased about Saturday or any of the wins so far.
However, to say you'd rather lose while "playing well" than win and play poorly, is just silly.
Especially with our remaining games. Any future losses this year would be directly related to at least some poor play by our team.
With the team we have this year...the only teams we should play well against yet lose are in the Top 10...maybe Top 15-20.
