    Re: What does it take?

Over a 5 year time frame, in no particular order, assuming a 12 game season, I would be satisfied with something like:

    6-6
    7-5
    8-4
    8-4
    9-3
    38-22

If we had a 10-2 season and then a 5-7, that would be okay. This would mean at least a Big 12 North title every 5th year and a Holiday or Cotton Bowl. I would be perfectly happy with Mac if we would have ended the last 2 regular seasons at 7-4 and 9-2. Part of my expectations are based upon the fact we are in the Big 12 and will have OU and Texas on the schedule.

Preface: I do not want Mac fired at this time. The end of the year will bring more evaluation.
All Mac had to do last year was win the games that he should have, and this wouldn't even be a discussion. 9 wins were there for the taking, maybe even 10, and if we could have just won those games, Mac is at Iowa State as long as he wants. The stadium projects would have been taken care of, and he would have gotten a pass on this season, regardless of what happens.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and here we are in the middle of what has been a frustrating season up to this point. And no amount of spin and propoganda can change the fact that everything was there for the taking the last two seasons, and it didn't get done.
There is still time to turn it around, but that brings us back to the original question, how much is enough.
I believe that a lot of the answer will be determined by what happens to Missouri this year. Their schedule is pretty light, and I really think that how they do against a similar schedule to what we had last year will reflect positively or negatively on Mac. Because Pinkel does not have a lot of admirers for his ability to coach, and hopefully we will see the same old Mizzu rear their ugly head. But if they dominate the rest of their schedule, then I think that casts at least small shadows on this staff.
JUST MY OPINION. I STILL DON'T WANT MAC FIRED!!!

at this point i'd be happy with an alamo bowl (8 win year). at least it's somewhere we haven't been before AND some progress
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
