DM Reg. article about ISU/UI football coverage

http://www.dmregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...3/SPORTS&lead=1

Talks about what the preseason mags are saying about both teams.
Of course, everyone looks at ISU's schedule and cringes - therefore predicting them to go anywhere from 2nd to 4th in the North.
Time will tell…

Regarding the preseason football predictions, until we can prove ourselves and earn a major upset and do a better job in the games we are favored in, we do not deserve more hype. As Coach McDermott said, we must earn the repect of others. We need to step it up a notch. IM4Cy

Re: DM Reg. article about ISU/UI football coverage

I am more concerned at this point on how Iowa Hawkeyes will keep their 9th place ranking after the Cyclones beat them in Iowa City. It will be nationally shown and remembered.

With their great linebackers moving on up, our running game should be better in the clash. Maybe we could have Jason Scales and Stevie Hicks in the backfield at the same time for some plays.

Ninth place ranking must mean the Hawkeye schedule is one of the weakest in the country. That is why they are the Big Ten -one lousy team does not even count in the conference name. I would love to play Indiana most every year.

Looks to me like the Big 12 is getting a tougher place to play, and the Big Ten is lightening for Iowa except for Ohio State.
1. Buckeyes are doing a great job of recruiting - they must have some wonderful sports boosters.
2. Michigan is starting to tank.
3. Illinois is trying to decide what color of football to buy.
4. Northwestern is too busy studying to lift weights.
5. Penn State is playing for Papa Joe and improving slightly with their new recruits.
6. Purdue has seen its glory days go bye-bye.
7. Michigan State remains a basketball school.
8. Indiana or Indiana State is same team.
9. Wisconsin lost Barry Alvarez to AD.
10 Minnesota - are they still called the Gophers when they play the tougher teams?
11.Iowa - best schedule in the Big Ten.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Notice that TCU was also rated at No 19. That bowl game was a pretty good one. Northern illinois was also considered by the pollster.

Northern Illinois plays Iowa late in the season. They have a really good running back who is even getting a little Heisman hype. I don't think NIU is really a top 30 team, but I'm hoping they beat up on Iowa.
