Anybody know much about our walk-ons?
I was checking out the roster just now, and (me being Captain Obvious) here, we seem pretty shallow in the backcourt with just Taylor, McIntosh, and Dunson being on scholarship. Does anyone know if our walk-ons, specifically Mark Currie and Brock Jacobson, are any good? I'm not asking for the next coming of Jeff Hornacek, maybe just the next John Neal, someone that can fill in for a few mintues here and there to give our main guys a breather.
It looks like Jacobson had pretty good stats in high school, although I know that Webster City isn't exactly the basketball capital of Iowa.

Re: Anybody know much about our walk-ons?
Brock is a good player. I played against him in high school. The conference he played in is one of the better conferences in the state in years past. It has gone down hill. He played against several All-State caliber guards, plus he played AAU, so even if he didn't get the competition during the season, he did during the summer. He can shoot the crap out of the ball. Has good range. He fits McD's system perfectly. He could surprise people like McKowen did his freshman year. Brock has the physical strength to compete and not have that much of a drop off.

Brock also had a scholarship offer to Drake that he turned down to walk on at ISU. He'll be solid, I don't know if you want him playing 20+ minutes a night, but it never hurts to have a shooter.

B.Jacobson: I have played against him as well as seen him play many times. He can definitely shoot it, he is physically just as tough as any of the other players. I also think he fits G-Mac's system very well, I can see him getting some time. I have also played against Curry a few times- know this was a while ago and i remember he was pretty good then to, however i wouldnt look for him to get much PT -

Freshman Tyler Norman (6'2" 170lb) was a pretty decent high school player in the state of Nevada.

Yeah, I forgot about Norman, he could be solid. All state a couple of times I think.

These walk ons might see a few mop up minutes this year but will they ever see the court again with the type of talent that we have seen McD is capable of bringing in?

Re: Anybody know much about our walk-ons?
From what I hear Brock Jacobson is the best three point shooter on the team and will probably be playing significant minutes, like 10 minutes or more a game, him and Taylor are the ones with the most consistent outside shot. After that I think I hear Currie has the second best chance to play.

Well, if he's bringing in enough talent and coaching skill that we're winning games by 20-30 pts, walk-ons could see a lot of minutes. Wouldn't that be cool. Being a walk-on last year had to be frustrating, having to bust your butt in practice but hardly ever getting on the court.
