I might get grilled for this but then again I might not. I have been reading a lot of posts about Ben's comments following the game and I thought I put a suggestion out there. I understand that Mac needs to perform right now and that hiring proven coaches is essential to give you the best chance to succeed but I think Ben would be an awesome offensive line coach for ISU. I know Ben personally and he is a great guy and a great coach (he coaches at Valley for those who didn't know) and the guy bleeds Cardinal and Gold. Not to mention the fact that he did it right when he was playing. He would bring passion and pride back to that position and IMO he would be a great addition to the coaching staff. I know a couple of other great former players that would love the opportunity to coach the Cyclones and I think it would be a good thing to have some of the players that helped turn it around coach the players that are trying to help us get to the next level.
I agree, I think he would definately bring some added passion back to the coaching staff. Not to mention he knows what it takes to be successful in the big 12.
Offensive Coordinator, no...the offensive line coach doesn't have to be the coordinator too.
Recruiter, yes. He has a great personality that a lot of recruits would identify with and talk about credibility. He would be trying to recruit kids to the place that he play at, i would think that would give him instant credibility.
NO! Maybe as a grad assistant. Do you people understand how many good coaches are out there who have a hell of a lot more experience than a high school assistant coach. I worked with the team when Ben played and he is no doubt a technician but I highly doubt his ability to go into kid's living rooms and recruit. I don't think he has the personality. Just my opinion from being around him for three years when he was playing
This wouldn't happen because Mac would get crucified for hiring a coach that didn't have any D1 experience but I just thought it would be fun to see what everyone else thought because it is guys like Ben that could bring back the energy and passion that I think the programs desparately needs. With all of the talk about firing coaches and whatnot I think it is essential to hire young coaches that can inject the program with relentless energy and passion.
I sure like listening to him on the Cyclone post game shows. He's objective and calls a lemon a lemon. I thought he was right on the money when he did his analysis of the Nebraska football game and the other games for that matter. Don't know much about the coaching potential but am willing to listen after watching the OLine debacle that happened Saturday night.....
Yes, great post. Let's hire a color commentator and former player who has no experience as an offensive coordinator to turn this team around. That would surely work. (SARCASM!!!)

I was not saying he should be an offensive coordinator and if you would have read my last post I said that it would never happen I was just commenting about young energetic coaches. Thank you for the sarcasm. Sorry for talking about something other than fire Mac or we suck.
Sorry, but you were not the person I was addressing. Yes you started the thread, but it was Wesley that put "Offensive Coordinator?" I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that. And if you think that I am into the fire Mac or we suck talk you would hear even more from me because I am far from a Mac Smacker.
