Meyer will likely finish the year as the most sacked QB two years running. It is not like he doesn't try to stay with the play, but the push the dline gets eliminates the pocket. Our Oline is very porus

The whole offense is just incapable of picking up a blitz. The receivers continue their deep routes, blocks are missed, and Meyer thinks it's against the rules of football to throw the ball if the other team is blitzing.

They said that OU had something like 5 sacks on the year before this game?

I'm dreading next year. Simply because we lose pretty much the entire Offensive Line (I know they've been pretty poor this year), and Meyer will be behind a bunch of new guys.

How has Meyer been compared to Flynn/Love/Terry in 2003? In terms of getting sacked I mean.

Well I guess the only positive about all of the sacks is that if Meyer were to get hurt, we should have another capable, albeit young, quarterback in Arnaud to step up and try to make a difference...

Meyer does seem to have problems seeing the field this year, but doesn't anyone think the coaching staff need to adjust some of the play calling then. How about focusing on quicker reads and 3 step drops. All I know, is its getting really old watching Meyer scramble around just to lose yards.

It should be no surprise that Meyer telegraphs EVERY pass! Defenses have keyed on this all year (including UNI). Apparently, since he has a tough time checking down to the 2nd & 3rd receivers, he just starts staring at the 2nd or 3rd & then comes back to his primary option. This is definitely a problem & only lasts so long in this league, let alone Meyer's future career. He MUST figure out how to effectively read a defense, or we'll always be throwing INTs & lobbing balls up for Blythe to grab (which isn't all that bad =).

When he rolls to either side, he really keys on a player. I continue to see our best option 15 yards middle of field instead of the sideline with our tall receivers at this point.

Meyer has always done this. An i believe it is because of bad coaching. You dont watch your player do this and just let me him continue on. You coach him to look everywhere.

I spoke of this in another thread. This is the reason why we only do those quick outs to the sidelines all the time. If we try the middle, he stares down the middle and the LB's drop back to cover it. So we go long and the looks long at the one WR. so the safty comes over the top. So all we have the left are the quick outs which the CB's cannot react quickly enough to.

I see a lot of talent being wasted in Meyer, and that is not his fault entirely. If there was better coaching to show this kid what to do, he would have better success.

There is something seriously wrong with this team this year, and Pollard has his hands full to figure it out.

Look, Meyer is not perfect...we all know that. He needs to improve on...

A. Making reads and not giving away his target by staring him down.
B. Don't make the bad play by trying to create something from nothing.
C. Throwing on the run - be more accurate.

Having said that...

What QB have you seen in the history of college football that played well in spite of pathetic offensive line play? Maybe we could look back at ISU history. Our great Seneca Wallace - once we actually played some decent teams in the 2nd half of 2002 - we were embarrassed. Wallace looked like he had just started playing football that season.

We're looking at a similar situation here. Good talent in Meyer (and our receivers) wasted by very poor offensive line play.

I really don't believe Meyer is the problem at all. He has to scramble for his life half the time, and noone respects the running game at all. After a while, I think he expects to have no time, because he usually doesn't, and that might explain not checking down to other receivers. Anyone's confidence would be shaken after all that.
