This will make all of you sick - enter at your own risk...
A stat that Deace brought up on CN...
In 2003, our offense score 149 points through the first 7 games. With 3 different QB's and a young backfield at times.
In 2006, with 10 returning starters on offense, our best QB in the Big 12, a healthy 1000 yard rusher, stud wide receiver - through 7 games, this this offense has scored...
143 points. -
Re: This will make all of you sick - enter at your own risk...
But without that point a game improvement it would be a different season....Toledo, UNLV, UNI.....

We've scored 7 fewer points this year than we did in the debale that was 2003. And, we had a large amount of points scored in our OT game this year.

Unreal. One thing that 2006 may have in common with 2003... Assistant coaches were fired after 2003. History is bound to repeat itself if we end this season the same as 2003.

That is right. We had 22 points in OT this year. So really that would make us at 121? Wow. That is not producing.

Now the optimist in me would say if you add 15% for the average fewer plays from the new rules you get 121 * 1.15 = 139...which is still less than 2003. Yeah our offense is offensive.....Hard to believe, but Mac was so right on when he said if we said our defense would be bad so we would just have to outscore people that it was happy horsecrap. Just not for the reason we all expected.

In 2004, we scored 131 points in the first 7 games. That season turned out okay, didn't it?

Colinherd might say we are good for about 20 points a game over the course of a season.

People remember we have played 3 very good teams. People need to relax and wait and see what happens. I figured we wouldn't be any better then 4-3 at this point. That was a big if on Nebraska. it isn't like we are that far away then what everybody thought we would be. Lets see how Saturday plays out then we can see what happens. We could easily win 4 in row. the veryone will be talking how great the offense is and how Mac brought us back again. If anything Pollard needs to get with the Big 12 and change our schedule. It is bull cramp that we have to play the 3 toughest teams in the big 12 right after each other. So we got a break with UNI. They need to spread this teams out. We should get Kansas or Kansas State and put some other teams in between all this tough ones. Not many teams would of had a better record then we do now with our first 7 games.

UNI
Ohio
Iowa (#23)
at Texas Tech
at Northern Illinois (#20)
Oklahoma (#1)
Texas (#20) 2006
Toledo
UNLV
at Iowa (#16)
at Texas (#7)
UNI
Nebraska (#22)
at Oklahoma (#23)
IMO, it could really go either way.
The point is, aren't we supposed to be the team that the opposing head coach says "Well they've got a top-ranked offense..."?

You forgot that UNI was ranked #13 when we played them. -

We play good to great teams EVERY week in conference. That is life in the Big Twelve, love it or hate it. Throw in U of I in non-conference and we have a tough schedule every year with the potential for a couple easier games out of conference and maybe a Big Twelve team or two in rebuild mode if we're lucky.
Complaining about it will get us nowhere. The only way to get respect and "big wins" is to play "big teams." I welcome the challenge. We're just frustrated right now because our team doesn't seem to be rising to the occasion for greatness.
Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.
