We Have Played The Three Best Teams in the Big 12
Holy smokes we lost to UT, NU, and OU and two were on the road. There is still a season left to salvage and a lot more opportunities to cheer rather than gripe. I guess I see an entire off season for crying if need be. Let's just wait and see how it plays out. They could win or lose them all but they have done neither yet.
Losing @ Iowa, @UT, and @ OU with a loss to NU at home on a night when ISU could not buy a break is not reason to slit our wrists.

Re: We Have Played The Three Best Teams in the Big 12
Great post! I think we need to keep a little perspective here folks. I agree that we have looked pitiful and I have been frustrated almost to tears but let's not forget that the schedule has been brutal the last few weeks. (UNI aside)

It's not the loses, but how we lost them.
And the wins made me about as sick as the losses did.
That's bad.

Re: We Have Played The Three Best Teams in the Big 12
Last year I thought we were much closer to a significantly better record and I bemoaned the ones that got away. This year we are much closer to a significantly worse record and could easiliy be 0-7. Both years started 0-3 in Big 12, yet huge difference in how we played and hence my confidence for the rest of the year.

Re: We Have Played The Three Best Teams in the Big 12
If it's not the loses but how we lost them and not the wins but how we won, the question is if we win out looking poor doing so winning at the last minute etc., and even the most cynical hater has to admit there's a chance, (I don't think it's likely personally), will everyone be upset that we are 8-4 or whatever it would be? will that mean that we are a lucky team that's not very good or a team that's tough when it's close?

Re: We Have Played The Three Best Teams in the Big 12
They easily could have improved over the last few games, and we might not notice because of the competition. The UNI game was an in between game that I was nervous about before the season just because it fell between two games which were obviously much bigger. I think that a 5-0 or 4-1 finish isn't out of the questions, but they do have to take care of business and take it to another level. -

ya wanna know what's sad? the last two saturdays i barely even missed the cyclone losses. saw the final score and was like, "that's nice..." of course, nebraska was my wedding day and oklahoma was honeymoon, so I DID have other things on my mind...

That's bad. Seven yucky games in a row. We are due for five good ones.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Losing @ Iowa, @UT, and @ OU with a loss to NU at home on a night when ISU could not buy a break is not reason to slit our wrists. OK, we'll go through this AGAIN. It isn't the wins and losses, it is the LACK OF HAVING A CHANCE TO WIN AFTER 12 F^%#^#G YEARS THAT IS THE PROBLEM!!!!!
We had NO chance against UT, we had NO chance against OU, and as it turned out we had NO chance against Nebraska. Watching the games you could see that we aren't even in their league (and Nebraska is the one that is the worst because they passed us in THREE years).
We "nearly" won the North the past two years because it SUCKED and we didn't have to play UT or OU. Now that we are playing them we see how truly far behind we are. And as long as Dan has been here, IT SHOULDN'T BE THIS BAD!!!
Oh wait what am I saying, it's ALL because of the money and facilities.

That's bad. And things said like that just reinforce how happy I am that we are at the level now where wins aren't even good enough because we didn't win them by more.

Re: We Have Played The Three Best Teams in the Big 12
Had we found a way to win at Iowa, which we all know could have/should have been done, I feel that the subsequent games may have played out differently. Not differently enough to keep us from losing to Texas and Oklahoma on the road, but enough maybe to locate some kind of mojo to soundly take care of UNI and find a way to beat Nebraska.
But of course there is no way of knowing when talking on hypothetical terms. We have to deal with what we now have, and that is a pretty sorry team that is playing without any gumption or pizazz.
If we lose to Tech tomorrow, I don't think we'll be able to recover enough to even have a shot at Shreveport, which isn't even saying very much to begin with.

Re: We Have Played The Three Best Teams in the Big 12
What concerns me more right now than W/L are basic things I've seen in all the games that don't seem to be improving, like procedure penalties, arm tackling, basic blocking, etc...fundamental things that have to be working correctly in order to be successful in a conference like the Big 12.
It reminds me of MBB last year. There were basic fundamental issues exposed in the pre-conference games, and those things really never improved during the conference season. Arguably, some things (like FT shooting), got worse. I hope the team can pull off another turnaround as in the past two seasons, but at this point, the play of the previous games is not encouraging.
