OT: Please explain "the line" **
Okay, I'm not a gambler. Never have been. Never will be. But could someone please fill me in on exactly how to read a line? For example, this week Tx Tech -2 over ISU. So Tx Tech is predicted to beat ISU by about 2, correct? Then, Tx A+M +1.5 over Ok State. So, A+M is also predicted to win by about 1.5? Why is the one + and the other -? Is it just a "home" vs. "away" thing?

Re: OT: Please explain "the line" **
+ means that they are recieving points. - means that they are giving points. i.e Texas Tech is now -2.5 over ISU. That means the game is 2.5 to O Iowa State before it even starts. It also means that you need to lay a nest egg on the Red Raiders.
TX AM is getting points if they are truely +1.5 at OKIE State. That means that whatever you didn't bet on the Red Raiders, you should put on TX AM.

You will also see a Money Line following the spread. The money line doesn't care about points, it's only who will win the game. It doesn't matter if its by 1 in 3 OTs or by 50. For example Texas Tech is probably something like -110 with Iowa State being maybe +120 or somethng. That means you will wager $110 on Texas Tech and if they win (no point spread involved) you win $100. The +120 means that you wager $100 to win $120 if ISU wins.

Re: OT: Please explain "the line" **
The line doesn't necessarily mean that they think theyll win by that much, they just move it back in forth until they get equal numbers of people betting on each team, therefore they break even, but end up making money depending on how much "JUICE" they charge.

Re: OT: Please explain "the line" **
The line isn't really a score prediction, it's just a line to even out the betting as much as possible. You can go ask our buddies at UNLV if you want to know more.

As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I
just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on Interstate 77. Please be careful!" "Heck," said Herman, "It's not just one car. It's hundreds of them!"

Re: OT: Please explain "the line" **
And this:
Two elderly women were out driving in a large car, both could barely
see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along, they came to an
intersection. The stoplight was red, but they just went on through.
The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself "I must be losing it. I
could have sworn we just went through a red light."
After a few more minutes, they came to another intersection and the
light was red again.
Again, they went right through. The woman in the passenger seat was
almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it.!
She was getting nervous. At the next intersection, sure enough, the
light was red and they went on through. So, she turned to the other woman
and said, "Mildred, do you know that we just ran through three red lights
in a row? You could have killed us both!"
Mildred turned to her and said, "Crap, am I driving?"

The driver going the wrong way, apparently had been on the wrong side of the road for quite some time, (8 miles or so). The 911 calls are chilling. It's being investigated as a crime. Authorites believe alcohol was a factor.

I'll happily answer any questions about these gambling topics since I now reside in Las Vegas. The only thing you need to know this week is that Wisconsin should be a lock at -6.5 $$$
