just wanted to get everyones thoughts on what the game plan on both sides of the ball should be.
offense: spread em, n run the ball up the gut. i think we need a big game from stevie and ryan kock. if we can control the ball, and keep the d off the field we have a good shot. with that said, we need to challenge there d backs down field on first down once in a while.
defense: i think we can all agree that coach skladany has been a little on the conservative side this year. i believe that will, or needs to change tomorrow. with a freshman qb you need to get pressure on him and rattle him early. it will be extremely important to make the sure tackles.
fans: loud and proud! lets help pick this team up and get them jacked before the game even starts. its homecoming and time to start a winning streak.

That will depend on whether or not we choose to give Stevie more than 6 carries in this game. I think that Stevie has shown more of a tendency to hit the hole harder and faster with less dancing than in years past, but the way our last 3 games have gone we haven't had the benefit of using him consistently. If we CAN somehow rediscover our running game, that will really help take the pressure off of Meyer and allow him to take a breather from the beating he's been taking. Otherwise, Tech will get ahead, blitz us until we bleed, and then we get to watch more three-and-outs.
Offensively: We need to start with our strength: the passing game. If we get Tech on our heels, then we can run the ball with success. Let's face it, we aren't going to be able to go head to head with our run game against their run D and win. We haven't done that against anyone (with the exception of Iowa). We definitely need to spread them out, and let's try some crossing routes for once instead of just working the sideline.
Defensively: We NEED to start manning up our D-backs instead of this zone coverage 10 yards down the field. In the past couple of games, the defenders have done a better job of flying to the ball when those quick passes are shovelled out to the sidelines, but Tech knows how to pick up yards on these. We have safeties for a reason: to play the deep ball. Lets put some defenders on their receivers and break up some passes instead of watching them catch it, getting 4-7 yards every catch.
