It does come down to recruiting. The UNLV and Toledo and UNI recruits looked pretty good.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

We have what, 85 kids on scholorship, and these are the best O-linemen that we can put out there??? That is scary.
That is scary. There are only two things more scary. Rosie O'Donnell in a bikini and being the starting QB for the Cyclones and having those 5 sad excuses for an Oline blocking for him.

We have an offensive line? Funny, I don't recall seeing one at any point this year.

    Re: Offensive Line

    totally stupid thread.

you people just figuring this out?

oline has sucked for many years nothing new. regardless the QB is getting enough time to make a play Defense is doing good job making sure Meyer doesnt get too much time. it sure seems Meyer needs too much time.

its pretty well established the line sucks. Meyer sucks too. started out moving the ball good and Meyers poor decisions and inability to move flushed it down the drain with his losses. offense and defense is too slow.

I do have to agree that our O-Line hasn't been top notch the last few years. I think Meyer is good, but has changed this season because of lack of protection. If Meyer was more like Wallace, throwing from the run, he'd benefit from a broken pocket. Where are the short middle screens to Hicks/Scales to keep the linebackers honest? Didn't see the game today, but every game I've seen this season I haven't seen this play.

    Re: Offensive Line

We had Scales running patterns out of the backfield to the middle of the field about 5-7 yards deep, but never threw to him. I think Meyer is getting happy feet from getting sacked so much. Meyer was quick to run out of the pocket even when he didn't have to today.

    Re: Offensive Line

Mac can't recruit very well(which lots of people know) But some people say Mac is a decent recruiter because he has gotten some good skill players in Meyer, Blythe, Wallace. The one thing he cannot recruit is offensive lineman. I am not saying that good skill players are a dime a dozen but a great o line can make an average running back look like a stud(Denver Broncos) and a crappy o line can make a QB look like a complete idiot. Lets face it Sage Rosenfels was not the greatest QB in the world and he did not have incredible talents at WR but the one thing that team had was a good O Line.
Football is not a game of finesse it is a game of brute force and an offense is only as good as its o line. Its time that we get players that play football to come to ISU instead of focusing only on people that play with the ball.

    Re: Offensive Line

I agree. O-lines make a player. Our O-line has not done a very good job this year, but let's face it: have any of our players stepped up and played hard-nosed ball. I just think our team lacks the mental toughness it takes to grind out each and every yard that it needs.
