Worst team in the Big XII this year???

The season is two-thirds done. It's pretty clear by now which teams are unlucky and which are just plain bad. Who is the worst overall?

It's kind of funny that we play the other three bottom feeders back-to-back-to-back the next three weeks. All three games should be slam dunks but now are merely coin flips.

Oklahoma State (4-3) was a blocked extra point away from forcing double OT vs. ranked A&M yesterday. Also, their three losses have been by a small margin.

You pollsters and cry and complain that ISU is the worst team in the Big XII, but have a look at KSU. In their four losses, they've averaged 8 points of offense, and if you take the Missouri game out, they've averaged 4 points per loss, and versus lesser competiton. I know it's kind of redundant to argue about who sucks more, but take into account other teams besides the only one that has let you down.

KSU may not be very good (I think all of those teams listed are about equal), but I didn't see anyone picking them to compete for a Big 12 North title this year. But then again, this poll isn't about which team was the biggest let down of the year, because we all know who that was. That's probably why this poll is so heavily sided to picking ISU, we're a bunch of disappointed Cyclones.

K-State is favored by 4 points over us for the upcoming game.

I'm looking at KSU and they have a Big 12 win. We don't. By definition we are worse than them regardless of circumstance.

I'm not sure we should be the landslide favorite for worst team, but never underestimate the power of unrealized expectations.

K-State lost at Baylor 3-17. Beat Oklahoma State 31-27 at home. Lost against Nebraska 3-21 at home. Lost at Missouri 21-41.

None of those teams are Texas or Oklahoma. If we had our schedule of Texas and OU switched with Colorado and Kansas, we could have had one win by now too. Our tough mid-season schedule (Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma) beat up our team physically and mentally. We were never able to build up any momentum in this season, thus making it harder to believe we can beat those lesser Big 12 teams now. We shall see.

Well said. I agree, but at least it has led to people to look at D-Mac as part of the problem of us not being one of the elite.

I agree we've had the tougher schedule, no question. But we weren't even in any of those games. Erase those and we've struggled with Toledo, UNLV and UNI and we're beaten by an Iowa team that is out of the Top 25 and a Texas Tech team that gave Colorado it first win by a landslide.

Do you think we'd have faired any better against Baylor, or will fair any better against Missouri? I don't know, it's pretty subjective.

I'd love to see us win out, or at least snag a couple W's, but back to my original point; statistically Kansas is the only team that can't say they are better than us right now.

You guys are right, I'm not saying that we WOULD have beat those teams, I'm just saying there would have been a much better chance to do so than beating the likes of Texas and OU. Therefore I wouldn't say that a team like K-State is better than us because they have one win in the Big 12.

I think we are the worst. The reason is that we should be SO much better. The talent is there.

here's a moral victory when comparing K-State to ISU, we scored two TDs vs. the blackshirts, and KState only mustered a field goal! Surely we can win saturday!

but seriously, the fact that we got "beat up" but Iowa, Texas, etc... b/c what, they are bigger and tougher than ISU? I remember that being the excuse in Dan's early years, we just couldn't match the "physicality" of those teams.... and, twelve years later we're still getting smashed around like pinballs vs. these teams?
