Its Time...New Coaches

1) Paul Chryst- Wisconsin O-Cordinator. Apple doesnt fall far...i wouldnt be surprised if Pollard interviews him twice.
2) S. Loney. No big surprise...but will he bring the fire that we are looking for?

I am a huge fan of the SEC and the way they play football. And I think paying 1 million dollars for a football coach who actually has made our team worse..is pathetic. That is why I think we need to dig deep into the SEC and find a O-Cordinator D-Cordinator that can come in and win, bring some intensity on the Defense and produce an offense that would take advantage of the Speed of R.J. Sumerall and the arm of Meyer. Blythe would be an animal in the SEC or Big Ten with a offense that ran smoothly.

3) Bo Pelini- LSU Defensive Cordinator- 3 previous jobs...Nebraska, Oklahoma, LSU. Grad Assistant at Iowa back in 1991. I REALLY think Pollard has his eye on Bo. Defensive mind...but he would surround himself with Offensive minds much better than Barney Ball. If he does come on, he may keep Cotton on as Offensive Line coach...but not let him call plays.

4) David Cutcliffe- O-Cordinator @ Tennesse. He was the QB/Assistant Head at Notre Dame in 2005, but resigned b/c of heart surgery. He is now back at Tennesse where he was the QB Coach/O Cordinator when P. Manning was there. Offensive mastermind, who would come in and carve points all over the likes of Northern Iowa...

5) Craig Ver Steeg- O-Cordninator at Rutgers. Take a look at this guys bio..he produces QB's who are winners and runs a tight program with the funds and facilities at ISU he would have fun putting a Run/Gun system in with Meyer for 1 year and Austin/Bates for the next 4.

6) Reggie Herring- D-Cordinator at Arkansas. Defensive Machine. He was the D-Cordinator at NC State and in 1 year they led the nation in total defense, allowing 221 yards per game, after giving up 421 and ranked 89th the previous year. Already at Arkansas they have a improved defense in his second season, and they have beaten Auburn, Alabama, and Ole Miss.

With the play of our Oline that would be reason enough to cross Bo off the list.

Another week, another coaching candidate list...that about sums up this season to date.

I agree...but the Nebraska ties might be too hard to miss here between Pelini and Cotton. I like Pelini, he would fire up the team and he would be excited to be back in the Big 12.

I think someone "well known" would wait around for the exact opportunity. So, my guess is someone like Butch Davis would wait for a bigger opportunity.

We need an up and comer that wants to make a name for themselves.

What makes everyone think that Harbaugh would make a good coach and would want to come here. I have heard his name the past couple of days and just want to get the scoop. I am not saying he would be a bad choice.

We would never get Butch Davis and I'd be shocked if we got Cutcliffe -- they will get higher profile jobs. Hiring is tricky business -- there are so many examples of apparently great hires who never pan out. Mike Stoops at Arizona probably had unanimous support when he came in and they're ready to give him the boot after 3 years. Who knew? Same thing with Dirk Koetter at ASU -- young, good-looking guy, innovative. And he's probably on his way out after taking that program down a level.

My guess is Mac stays one more year even if they lose out. Coordinators will go. Harbaugh is an interesting choice but would he leave San Diego for Ames for any reason? What about Turner Gill? He's in his first year at Buffalo and they are bad. But what can you tell after one year at Buffalo? There don't appear to be any no-brainer picks from the MAC or Mountain West either (we will not get Patterson). Maybe Steve Kragthorpe at Tulsa?

In any case, I'd rather wait for the right guy, as bad as it has been this year. These things are like marriages -- a hell of a lot easier to get into them than it is to get out.
