How the hell is this the toughest schedule ever?
Stop trying to justify your failures with excuses right after you say you don't make excuses. Not only do you make excuses, your excuses are fabricated.

Toledo - Bowl
UNLV - Sucked
Iowa - New Years bowl (although as a 7-win team didn't deserve it)
Texas - Nat'l Champs
Northern IA - D-IAA Runner Up
Nebraska - Better bowl than us
Oklahoma - Better bowl than us
Texas Tech - Better bowl than us
KSU - Sucked
Kansas - Similar bowl to us
Colorado - Better bowl than us
Missouri - Similar bowl

I'm tired of Mac insulting our intelligence. Does he really think we are buying these sob-stories?
Win some games, and stop crying about the schedule. You are in a BCS conference. Odds are, you are going to play some good, maybe even (gasp!) ranked teams.
What do you call a coach who never wins games against teams with equal talent, and barely wins games against teams with far-inferior talent?
An out-coached loser.

Last years winning % has very little to do with how good teams are this year.
Toledo: Way worse
Texas: Worse
Iowa: Worse
UNI: Doesn't count as it should be a guaranteed ***-kicking
Okla: Worse
Tech: Worse
It's clearly not the toughest schedule in history. To continue to say it is not smart. This offense looked like it would be very tough going into the year. He's not talking about that anymore.

2006: 31
2005: 38
2004: 51
2003: 10
2002: 10
2001: 49
2000: 43
1999: 49
1998: 21
Apparently he has forgotten about 2003, 2002 and 1998. (This is as far back as the Sagarin archives went. I am sure that some of the schedules back in the 70's when OU, NU and CU were all in the top 10 were pretty tough too  )

what do you think he tells the players in the locker room? do they hear this same spin? are they already emotionally defeated before they take the field? I'm not talking this season but every year. I'm mean does he drop "tremendous challenge" on the players every 90 seconds? I know he has to be all respectful in interviews to his opponents, but I hope his tone is different behind closed doors with his players.

Save us, JP! We will support you! Wow, Amen! I could not have said it better myself. I honestly am starting to look forward to each loss now just to see what lame excuses he comes up with. It's sad really.
