BTW...no guesses on who has the second longest streak ahead of ISU in consecutive games with at least one three point basket made???? [/b][/quote]
I don't want to guess because I'm thinking it may be a rival of ours.
This is my sarcasm pirate. There are many like it but this one is mine. -
A team on our schedule yes, but not what I would call a rival at this point and not EIU.

I believe it's Drake.

I just wanted to get my thoughts in on Coach Fennelly's recruits. I agree that this will be his second excellent class in a row.
Simply identifying the top one or two recruits in the country each year and they saying they should be wearing cardinal and gold is extremely easy. Actually getting them to come hear is another thing- these are 17 year old girls when they commit many of whom are likely nervous about just going to school, not to mention playing big time WBB.
There was also mention of recruiting those Texas like Grant(TTU) and Jackson (UT). Let me tell you, with family in Texas and family as UT alums, Texas natives are fanatical about all things TEXAS. My recommendation to anyone complaining about the recruits we are landing in this or any other sport is to get out there and attend some road games (and not just at Knapp or Carver Hawkeye). While I always come back saying "There's no place like Hilton!", I also have to appreciate that these other schools have a lot to offer, particularily if that is a school one of these young ladies has grown up following.
Go Cyclones!

You are correct the three schools with the longest 3 point streak in Women's Basketball are Cleveland St, Drake, & Iowa State. Given the number of Iowa High School girls on both rosters over the years I think that says a lot for the coaching at the high school level. It is great to see strong fundamentals like shooting still being focused on in high school ball in the mid west

my computer screwed up one of my notes that i was typing on the reply section.
just a note of players that i have referred to coach fennelly.
stephanie gilbreath recruit foe 2007- houston katy cinco ranch-concensus high school all american by many rating services
briana gilbreath-2008 recruit -houston katycinco ranch-again concensus high school all american
nneka ogwumike from houston cy fair and her younger sister-both of these gals are as good as the gilbreath ladies, but their parents have not promoted their girls like the gilbreath parents have.
brooklyn pope a 6-2 forward -center from ft worth dunbar high school. will be available in 2008. again considered an all american high school candidate by many rating services. this gal doesn't need her parents to push her as an all american as she will be one of the top high school ballers for recruiting in 2008.she is a leaper and can easily dunk the ball.
all of these potential recruits have been forwarded to fennelly .

I am sure he appreciates it and as a fan I certainly appreciate your willingness to help out the program

I believe Seirra Dawson transferred.

Nice follow up! Some people are never happy but BF has done great work at Ames.
He does have some top notch talent coming in and like you, I think recruiting Texas is a little tougher in WBB than MBB or FB. Look at all the talent being mined out of Missouri and Kansas in girls hoops. KSU is making a powerhouse out of their in state recruiting.
I think we climb back to the top now!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(JCloned @ May 31 2006, 08:34 AM) Quoted post</div><div class='quotemain'> As a season ticket holder for the Women's BB team I am amazed that people can be so shortsighted. Before Bill arrived, you could walk in
after tip off and sit in the arena circle mid court. The turn around that he has delivered is what legends are made of. Even last year in the rebuilding year, ISU womens games were exciting competitive and Hilton Magic was very much alive. Even the best coaches will have class or two that don't pan out and go through a few years that are "substandard" for them.
Bill has managed to put together two very good recruiting classes back to back and if you attended the games last year you would be very excited about the future from the players he brought in. With that the best incoming player last year had to take a medical redshirt b/c of a herniated disk. Rachel Pierson will bring us back to the Angie Welle days of a dominent inside game to set up our outside shooting.
The future is very bright for the womens program and while Tiffany Jackson isn't in a Cyclone uniform, ISU will be back in the upper echelon of the Big 12.
I would love to have the players you listed on our roster...but so would UConn and Tennessee. Because they aren't on our campus doesn't mean that we didn't recruit them.

Making a difference everyday!
