Official Kansas State Traveler Board
Al_4_State, myself and a couple friends are making the trip to Manhattan late Friday night. It's our first trip there!
Any advice or knowledge that some of you Manhattan Vets might be willing to share about the city, lots, drinking restrictions, etc?
We are hoping to tailgate with plenty of you ISU fans/CF members. We traveled to Columbia last year and were amazed at the number of fellow Cyclones tailgating. We actually outnumbered Tiger fans at the lot I was in! Had a great time and hoping for the same turnout Saturday!
Feel free to walk up and enjoy a cold one with us! We will be driving a green pontiac with ISU plates, wearing TEAM WOP tailgating t's and also planning on bringing our ISU fightsong car horn!
See you in Manhattan! -

There is a steakhouse/brewery right off I70 in that stripmall that has good beer and food. Can't remember the name, but the locals all know it.

Team Wop? What's that stand for?
(Forgive me if I'm overlooking something obvious.)

(Forgive me if I'm overlooking something obvious.) It's the name of a drink we make at most of our tailgates in Ames.
In a Gatorade jug or something similar:
-2 Cases Beer
-1 Handle Vodka
-6 Cans Lemonade Concentrate
Perfect combination of drinkability and drunk value for your dollar!!!
We MIGHT make some at K-St so if you guys are lucky enough you can stop by to have a glass or two on us! -

I wish I were able to make the trip now - those are awesome!! Best part - you won't remember the game if it goes badly!

Ok pointless post.... :) That's really cool!! And... oddly similar.
Do you also do "cannonballs" with bottles of Boone's? Very classy.

Re: Official Kansas State Traveler Board
yeah.... we're thinking of bringing some extra beer to distribute to fellow CF'ers (probably just a 12 pack, so first come, first serve), so follow joskvig's directions, and be listening for the fight song horn on the Bonneville!
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -
Re: Official Kansas State Traveler Board
Really the only thing you need to know about tailgating there is they make you keep all your beer, etc. in a cup so basically don't be waving your beer around and you won't get hasseled. There are big grass lots to the north of the stadium that I believe are for GA parking and fairly close. After the game I'd head to Aggieville and hit up the bars.
KSU is the only school I've seen around here with tailgating that can rival ISU's. The culture is very much the same with lots of busses, RV's, and flags.

Thanks for the pointers so far! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks for the pointers so far! Keep 'em coming! Basic gist - you buy a bunch of Boone's Farm (helps if they are 99 cents!), and get a bunch of people in a circle. Chug as much as you can, then pass to the next person. I don't drink too often, and definitely not enough to make it through more than about two passes. :) Let me know if you make this a part of the tradition.

Re: Official Kansas State Traveler Board
Myself and 12 others will be making the trip. Going to Topeka Friday night and staying in the Plaza Saturday night in KC before watching Seneca take on the Chiefs Sunday. That couldn't have worked out better because we got the Chiefs tickets quite awhile ago but I'll still cheer for the Chiefs to beat Seneca and hope he looks good in the process of losing.
Myself and 3 other guys just bought a used RV tonight but aren't going to break it in on this trip unfortunately. We were very tempted but had a little problem with the new starter that was just put in it that prevented us from getting it back to town after a quick stop at where we were going to store it at so maybe its a sign from God that we need to break it in at Ames first before going on a road trip.
Anyways, hopefully we run into some of yall down there. We'll have a Cylone tent and another blue tent setup with a few cars and a black Chevy truck. If anything, at least the Chiefs game is certain to be a lot of fun if ISU doesn't show up this weekend.

Re: Official Kansas State Traveler Board
Game day atmosphere in Manhattan is very similiar to Ames. Lots of open space for tailgating especially to the north & east of stadium. K-State fans are usually friendly. They only get rowdy when Nebraska comes to town. Enjoy!
