Yes, and I think this quote says it all about Iowa State football. My question to that would be though, "How do you continue to sell hope when you fall short two years to be followed by a pretty dismal season that after the 4th conferece game, all hope is gone?" I think this year has been a big crusher for that hope. Where I believe Cyclone football has come a long way from the 90s, I don't believe it has come that far that we can afford to blow two perfect opportunities then follow that up with a reasonably dismal season, just 2 seasons removed from another dismal year.

I guess, what I'm trying to say is that I don't believe you can only sell hope to Cyclone fans. Over all we are a pretty cynical group. Why, because we've been sold hope for a lot of years now. I don't think most of us are looking for hope, we are looking for results. And I believe every year, since I can remember we've always fallen a little short of where we hoped we'd be. Eventually we are going to have to play for the conference Championship. And if we keep Mac, my opinion is that should be sooner than later. We've been hoping in Mac for 12 years. Eventually hope gets blinded by truth. The truth right now is we have had the opportunity to play for a conference championship twice and failed to do so. The truth is this year is shaping up to be pretty bad. Believe me, I hate to see the Cyclones lose, so, I hope at the end of the year the Truth is Mac is still here because he deserves to be. He proved he can still take this team to victory. If not, then the only truth will be that we need to make a change.
