What hope is there in '07? .... I think there is a lot! I think there is a lot of "useable" talent that a new coaching staff can do a lot with.

Several of us were critical of the coaches and team play after the first three games. You chastised us in a "far less than complimentary" manner and told us to trust in Mac & JP. None of us ever said anything about skipping a game, ie - turning our backs on ISU. As a matter of fact, my family and I won't even consider skipping the KU and Mizzou games. No true fan would, and you should be ashamed of your comment!
I've never taken away from anybody's "rep points", and I'm not going to do it now, but you deserve it!
LOL at Darts180 getting kudos from Angie the Mod. I've never thought Darts was a "bad guy", but lots of other people obviously did given his "rep points" of -200+! Here's to you, Darts180; you've been consistent all the way thru and now you're getting your due! Everybody join me in giving Darts some positive feedback so we can get him back on the plus side! You were right, I was wrong. My only beef with you early on was that it was early on. I guess I had hope that the patterns we saw early wouldn't stay and that we weren't being fair to the coaching staff for judging them on a few games (I was on your case after the UNLV game, only 2 games into the season). But your opinion was right. I'm eating big time crow. D-Mac and his staff have really messed up this year.
I dont know what else to say but you were right. Right you were.

I sure hope a new staff would include a SUPER O-Line coach because I really don't see much useable talent there. (If what Mac says is true that there's a huge dropoff between the 1s & 2s.) I wish I could be more optimistic...

Well, nothing worse can really happen. ISU is the worst team in the Big 12. ISU is already playing even with I-AA teams and lousy teams from the I-A "mid-major" conferences, so it can't get much worse on that front.
This is unacceptable. The ISU football program is spiraling downward. A coaching change is the only thing that can save it now... But we might lose Phillip Bates if we switch. He just won a playoff game on Friday, first one in awhile for Omaha North. Maybe we can hire John Blake as head coach for recruiting.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

One point for YES and 0 points for NO.
Rule #1: Be honest with yourself.
Rule #2. Do not chnage your answer once entered.
Rule #3 Thjis is for fun. Do not be mad at your rating.
1. Will we ever again score in the fourth quarter?
2. Will we have a 100 yard rusher?
3. Will Blythe catch another touchdown this year?
4. Is Stevie comiung back? Is Jason coming back? Is Josh able to block?
5. Will Flynn catch another pass?
6. Can Jon Davis return?
7. Will Jason Harris be a running back next week?
8. Can Mangino get into the JT?
9. Will Bret avoid the Blythe roomate flu?
10. Can we just retire the oline and use the weak subs? Maybe they can run faster and help Bret out in the corners of the field when he runs for his life?
11. Can the band play the whole fourth quarter to distract us?
12. Will we beat the terrible Buffo Buffs?
13. Is there an answer to this season? Tarot cards? Ouiji Board? Eight ball? Rubik's Cube?
14. Can Bret avoid the annual sack record again?
15. Can Berg out tackle McKenzie?
16. Can anybody intercept the ball in the secondary playing or on the bench?
17. Will Medicom televise the UNI game next year? It may be our best effort.
18. Can we score 30 with lots of turnovers and no overtime? Thought we beat KSU with our same offense 45-17 last year.
19. Can we stay out of basement on defense and offense?
20. Do the other coaches want to fire Vanilla Dan?
YOUR SCORE after totaling your points:
0-4 Real Bad and possible EIU/Red Fan
4-8 Pessismistic Fan who ate sour grapes
8-12 Must have a good family situation to overcome Saturday
12-16 Smoking good stuff for a fan

Also, I have no actual intention of selling my tix. And I'm going to the game. It is the only game of the year that I can go to without 900 miles of driving so I'm going. Simply trying to make a point that at $100 for one game, the product on the field just might now be worth that.

This debate may slow down as the season rolls on, simply because the anti-Mac people are "tired and numb."

Consider your reputation redeemed with me, though I didn't need your affirmation that I was "right" and you were "wrong". Go to the game and have fun regardless of the outcome!
As for your prior post, those of us who are season ticket holders have been watching this ineptitude all season. After viewing the Toledo and UNLV games, it was obvious there was something "very wrong" with this squad and a few were sounding alarm bells early. I can't explain the offensive malaise, but the lack of changes in defensive philosophy still have me angry.
Without researching this to confirm, I believe the only QB we've held under 70% completion percentage is Thompson of OU, and he completed 66.6%! I heard only a blip of the game yesterday; we had KSU 3rd & 8 from their 18 and gave up a 17 yard completion (mostly YAC)! Despite the fact we can't stop the pass, our d-backs continue to give a HUGE cushion. It's pitch & catch for the other teams, and I just can't understand why we haven't at least attempted some man-to-man press coverage. It couldn't have any worse results than what we've been seeing! After years of watching the same, I'm simply sick of "play conservative and hope the other team makes mistakes". It's just one small example to illustrate my discontent with this coaching staff.
As a side note, I can't believe the number of hawk fans here in IC who continue to say, "Go ahead and fire Mac; Norm Parker will retire soon and we'll bring Mac on to be the new D-Coordinator". Be careful what you hope for, EIU, that is unless you enjoy watching "bend and eventually break" defenses!

I bet we could throw together a halfway decent team. Of course, that would mean the football players would be trying to play our instruments, and that might scare more people out of the stadium...
Oh, you meant could we play music for the whole fourth quarter? Not as exciting, but we'd sure be willing to give it a shot if someone gives us permission. Better run it by Meyer first, though, because according to him the band is the reason that they lose games in the first place. True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.
