The scheme that ISU decides to run is not nearly as important as the ability of any coach to make ADJUSTMENTS. I think you can see that in every above average team. I don't care if we run the option as long as the coach leading the players understands that he is going to have to adjust that option at halftime if the other teams defense is shutting it down. The ability to adjust your gameplan on the fly is an area that I feel we have been outcoached in for quite some time. I don't know if this is a coordinator's responsibility but it seems as such to me.
I think this current group of offensive playcallers (B. Cotton) does a very poor job at making timely play calls. These guys are never in sync. It's almost like they can't keep up with the speed of the game. Some guys just have a knack for timely play calling, and our offensive coaches don't!
At Nebraska, they have other people fake like they are going to get the ball in a tight situation so that you think they wioll get it. Then sopmeone else gets the ball. We fail to do that at ISU. Just bad coaching or lack of innovative thinking to fool the fans, media, and opposition?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
Is Tom Dienhart reading Cyclone Fanatic? This reference in his recent College football soup gave me a case of deja vu.

...If Iowa State does makes a change, it's vital the school tabs a coach who runs a system that gives it a chance to win with lesser talent. Think of what Mike Leach's system has meant at Texas Tech. The Cyclones can't consistently recruit the same caliber of players as their Big 12 brethren, which means they have to do something unique scheme-wise. Remember that if a coaching search does ensue....
Don't forget that TT plays in the much tougher south division. If they were in the North the last two years, they win the north and go to the championship game. The north still looks weak enough it could happen the next couple of years, too, at least. I'd be happy with that for a step up in "level".
If we were as fun to watch and had the same results as TT, we would have upgraded our stadium by now. Imagine the fan support if we went to the cotton bowl, Holiday, alamo etc....Besides they would have probably won the North the last 3 years excluding this year. Their record would have been better if they missed OU, Texas A&M, once in awhile.
