interesting stat...
From what I understand, Mac has 55 career wins at ISU.
20 of those 55 wins have been over these teams...
UNLV-4
NCAA 1AA-8
Ohio-4
Baylor-4
Thats an aweful easy way to make a paycheck.

and how are we doing against top 25 teams BESIDES IOWA?

Re: interesting stat...
Exactly... just shows you how skewed his winning percentage numbers really are.

But this year, we're barely doing even that. We're struggling against the bad teams and losing to everyone else.

Why "besides Iowa"? Just curious.

Re: interesting stat...
Because it shows he can't consistently coach against solid competition. He can beat ISU's Rival when there rated, but no one else....

Because Iowa is only one team and ISU usually plays about 4 or 5 ranked teams a year that means you can chalk up 4 or 5 losses a year.

Re: interesting stat...
The only Top 25 team other than Iowa that I can recall for certain that we have beaten was Colorado last year. And we all saw what kind of downward spiral they had gotten into, starting the week before when their fans threw trash on the field while getting drubbed by NU.
Was Texas Tech ranked in 2002 when we beat them? Not sure. How about Pittsburgh when we played them in the bowl? What about Nebraska in 2002? If they were ranked they certainly didn't deserve to be.
As was said already in this thread, Mac has made a living off of beating really bad teams, getting occasional wins over mediocre teams, and then laying turds and getting hammered against good teams. Not good enough.

Re: interesting stat...
We were the ones that started the spiral against Colorado. They played Nebraska after us.

Re: interesting stat...
I think you are wrong in the D-1AA number. I just looked and can't find more than Indiana State and Illinois State and maybe Tennessee Tech and maybe Troy State.
Were you counting UNI twice?

Re: interesting stat...
Nevermind, I was mistaking UNI and UNLV. Horrible stat.

ISUAlum- I don't think TT was rated that year. When I watched the replay of Seneca's run a couple weeks ago on cyclones.com (the TBS version), there was an "11" by ISU on the score tracker in the corner and no # by TT. And wow, did that really happen? were we really ranked that high or was it just a dream? If I recall, ISU reached ninth?
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. oops, I meant I don't think they were rated when ISU played them. Perhaps they were at another point in that season.

Re: interesting stat...
Absolutely pathetic. It's facts like these that snap me back to reality during those "but Mac really is a great guy..." moments.

Re: interesting stat...
I don't think CU was ranked last year when we beat them. Nor was Tech in '02.
NU was rated when we played them in '02. That's why it was the ABC 2:30 game. It was like a 18/19 matchup. 19/20 depending on what poll you looked at. Of course, they fell out of the poll that week and finished the season something like 7-5.
I'm probably wrong, but we've talked about this often and I have it in my mind that we've only beat two ranked teams. NU '02 and Iowa '05
