I don't think that being a "basketball school" is necessarily equivalent to being a national power in the sport.

We've taken some steps backwards the last 4 years or so, but there's no mistaking that basketball is king at ISU.

If you could tailgate at basketball games, we'd have to dome-over the Jack and play over there. Good grief, Hilton gets nuts enough in big games. Can you imagine having 6+ hours of tailgating in before hand? Whoeee coach!

Not sure I necessarily agree with your argument, but I understand your logic.

If you asked most of the national media if ISU was a "basketball" school, i think you'd get laughed off and get the same list i gave this post.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

If you asked most of the national media is Iowa = corn or potato, you'd probably get a mixed bag response as well.

Like I said, it's not a national presence - but it's what matters most at ISU. Look at it this way, what do you say more often

"Dear God football stinks, when does basketball begin" or vice versa? Being a student under Walden, I know the later NEVER come out of my mouth.
